"Great location with walking trail to Legoland, everything else needs a car."

8.0

It’s a lovely resort with pools

Website suggested shuttles to and from Carlsbad so I did not bring a car due to the expensive parking fee. There were no shuttles to town.

"Over all the my stay was great and my daughter was so happy with the room and pool. It was perfect for her Birthday!"

Amazing pool! Rooms were clean and staff was friendly!

I have a broken ankle and am using a skooter. So while crossing the street from pool back to room my wheel hit a pot hole and I hurt my good foot because skooter got stuck in hole making me almost fall. It was dark so I did not see the pot hole.

Good texting communication throughout my stay. Location is great for both business travelers in the area and also families visiting Legoland and other local attractions. Room was large, great bed and pillows! I liked that there was both a shower and a tub/shower in the bathroom.

A little confusing on getting to the check-in area versus the actual lodging buildings.

"Hilton Grand Vacations MarBrisa – Managed by Gran Pacific Resorts: Operational Gaps and Property Limitations"

2.0

I recently stayed at Hilton Grand Vacations MarBrisa and would like to share observations that may help future guests make informed decisions. First, it is important that I understand that HGV properties are vacation ownership resorts, not traditional hotels. Expectations should reflect this distinction. However, certain fundamentals—such as property condition, guest communication, and safety—remain essential. Property Condition The unit assigned was on the first level, which I had requested to avoid. At check-in, I was told no other rooms were available due to full occupancy. However, when I checked the Hilton app, multiple rooms appeared available. Later, the management explained via email that the property operates differently and that app availability cannot be relied upon. I cannot confirm whether this is accurate, but this experience reflects a broader issue: guests, including Hilton Honors Diamond members, are processed like any other guest without recognition of status or benefits outlined in Hilton’s policies in particular in the US. This attitude, combined with the lack of flexibility, illustrates the overall management culture. Additionally, the room itself presented several challenges: Noise: Walls are extremely thin—you can hear neighbors’ conversations and activities clearly. If your room is on the ground floor, you will hear everything from above, including children running (which is understandable) and appliances like dishwashers and dryers from surrounding units. Water pipes are particularly loud; when someone showers or uses plumbing, the noise is significant.
Condition: Worn furniture, a rusted and dirty dishwasher unsafe for food use, and other maintenance issues that cannot realistically be resolved during a short stay.
Construction and Parking There was significant construction activity on-site, including equipment and vehicles unrelated to guest use parked throughout the property. This creates uncertainty about who is on the premises and raises security concerns. Charging $35 per day for parking under these conditions seems inconsistent with expectations, especially given the proximity to new hotel construction across the street. Management and Communication Attempts to address concerns through Hilton, the local property management, and the board of Gran Pacific Resorts resulted in silence (except Hilton !) or responses that appeared designed to shut down discussion rather than resolve issues. Feedback was either ignored or met with generic phrases lacking clear commitment. This approach feels deeply disrespectful and is reflected in many other guest reviews on Tripadvisor. Consistent non-engagement raises serious questions about service culture and accountability. Final Thoughts This property may suit families visiting nearby attractions who prioritize location over condition. However, for business travelers or those expecting Hilton-level standards, I recommend considering alternatives. The combination of aging infrastructure, active construction, and non-responsive management reflects a gap between brand promise and actual experience.

"Beautiful Resort"

6.0

We stayed 4 nights in a two bedroom unit. The room layout and size were perfect for the 4 of us. However the day we arrived, I found that an outlet in the bathroom didn't work. I texted the front desk and they had the outlet fixed within hours. Throughout the remainder of our stay, we found another outlet didn't work this time in the living room, the fan in the LR is worn out and wobbly, the swivel chair is worn out and smelly, the laminate on the cabinets is bubbling up, the floor laminate next to the bed is coming up (trip hazard). The firepit outside our room wouldn't stay lit, and the grills outside our room, only two of the 4 burners worked. Looks like they need to pay a bit more attention to detail. All in all the resort itself is great. The secret entrance to Legoland is pretty cool. They just need to pay a bit more attention to details and this will be a top notch resort.
