Grand Hotel Bristol

This is a gorgeous hotel. Staff was very friendly and willing to help with anything. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like is that they only give you 2 hours of free Wifi for your entire stay.

The hotel may be 100 years old but it is very well maintained and stately. The outdoor pool is very nice. Short walk to town. Just across the street from the lake. My one complaint was the "free" Wi-Fi. Four hours after check-in, after taking survey, two hours are provided. Parking in their parking lot is €10 a day but free parking is along the street if available.

THE HOT BREAKFAST WAS PARTICULARY DISAPPOINTING AND THE SET EVENING MEAL COULD ONLY BE DESCRIBEB AS AVERAGE

Lovely hotel overlooking the lake. We were disappointed that we could only get a garden room, which we assumed was at the back, but in fact it was at the side and still had a view of the lake. Room was large by European but not US standards, and had a small balcony. The hotel is a 10 minute lakeside walk from the main centre. The parking charge is consistent with prices outside; and there are bars in town if you do not want to pay the high charge for breakfast.

My wife and I are 30, and I'd say we were the youngest people there by 20 years or so. the hotel itself is gorgeous, and in a great location, but there were some down sides. The room was about 80 degrees, and we could not get the temp to go down. One night we literally slept with the balcony door open to cool it down. They also charge for simple things. While the garage was only $10 per day internet as $20 for 10 hours. Odd scales of payment.

A quality hotel with great views over the lake

Excellent. Only disappointment is breakfast not included... 16 euros per person. Makes it more expensive than necessary

great hotel , great service , great swimming pool , take room fronting the lake if possible , breakfast too expensive , 5 minutes walk to Stresa center.fair price per value ! would go there again no doubt

I have NEVER stayed at such a poorly run hotel. You have to pay for everything ... breakfast (most hotels include it with the room rate), no free wifi anywhere in the hotel, other than 20 minutes not per day, but over the entire duration of your stay (but you have to complete a survey first to get your password) ... the list goes on. The rooms are very dated and inconsistent with the lobby, restaurant and pool area. Thankfully, we weren't in our room too long. We needed to speak with the manager about a matter and had to do so through a translator since he didn't speak English. Upon check out, we were told that we had spoken with Mr. Zacchera himself.

Certainly a "Grand Hotel" almost of a slightly different era and therefore strangely dated. The outdoor pool area and gardens are simply stunning although the pool is icy cold. There is a warmer indoor pool. The room was rather small but had a balcony which looked out over the gardens to the lake beyond. My only real critism would be that some of the staff came across as rather aloof and unapproachable but I think this is a symptom of the style of the hotel service. As such it does tend to attract an older clientele.
