Grand Hotel Bristol

Hotel very grand interior, marble floors, impressive entrance. Very efficient, rather impersonal due to size - more than 500 rooms. Attractive room, nice bathroom. Balcony with lovely view overlooking lake and Isola Bella, and attractive gardens with beautiful swimming pool. Very efficient service. About a mile walk to town centre alongside the lake. Very clean attractive resort. Bring plenty of cash - they charge extra for EVERYTHING!

Phones did not work could not call reception or for service. Room cleaning staff the worst. Never changed our towels even though I personally requested it before dinner time. When I got back late from dinner we had no towels I personally had to request and wait for them at the lobby. The pool need cleaning, the white columns at the entrance are green under the water. Staff was decent after my complains. Three weeks in Europe this was the worst hotel. Needs strong leadership to get back and give quality service we deserve. Will not return back or recomend it.

Check-in was fast and efficient. The staff were friendly and we were accommodated in a separate block out of the back of the hotel. The distance into town is a 10 minute walk and the view from the room, although not lake facing, was of the mountains and Isolla Bella. Car parking is €10 per night in the hotel car park. There were two plumbing issues though. The first was that every time upstairs used any water facility we could loudly hear the waste water pass through the drains which disturbed our sleep. Odd for such an established hotel. I'm not sure if this is a temporary issue or permanent problem. The second issue was that the drain for the shower was slow to clear so we ended up standing in a pool of water in the shower tray. Easily fixed but coupled with the noise of the other rooms drainage sadly not the highest of ratings for the room itself. The hotel is 'grand.' The pool is sizeable, all the communal areas are clean and tidy and the location for Stresa and the ferries across the lake is good. We didn't eat or drink in the hotel so cannot comment on these aspects. Overall a good stay but sadly the plumbing issues took the edge off the experience.

Close to everything. Continental breakfast from room service was bad. You pay for location and view.

we stayed here to wind up our 4 week stay in Italy. we enjoyed the location within walking distance to the center of Stresa. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel clean and well laid out. Their buffet breakfast could be improved, pretty well picked over and then not replenished. But overall a nice place to stay.

Great old but updated hotel in beautiful setting. Swimming pools are some of the best I have seen. Only negative is that they advertise bus to airport and for an 11:30am flight the only thing available was 6:30am which forced us to take an expensive taxi

The hotel is beautiful and the location is excellent. However, rooms do not offer free wi-fi and the electrical outlets are very scarce. However, management did provide us with a multi-plug when we complained.

Hotel tries to be 4 or 5 star, but closer to 3+. Some of front desk staff rude and unprofessional. Food and drink prices high. Very poor wi-fi and limited time.

It was a very comfortable stay at this Hotel. We were moving on to another city and had hoped there would be another one of these chain hotels there, but there wasn't. It was very grand and comfortable but not over priced and more like American hotels.

Great area of Italy, the Hotel was special and has helped make our visit to Italy a memorable one.
