Grand Hotel Bristol

I would not recommend this as a family hotel. My room was described as "Mountain view". What that meant was a 1/4 mile walk to a satellite block where they house family groups in rooms with no soundproofing. Clearly many of the guests go back year after year to see their old friends and to spend all night in the restaurant on the overly elaborate buffet. Stresa is a great place to visit, but I won't be going back here.

Good location. Short (15 min) walk to center of town. Pool is nice with bar service. Kid friendly too. Also has a heated indoor pool if the weather is not too good. Looks over the lake. Staff was very responsive to an issue we had that was not their fault. Parking on site. Very nice breakfast but not included. My 11 year old daughter now wants to live in Stresa based on our stay. Take what you will from that.

We were in Stresa looking for wedding venues. Decided to try one of the waterfront hotels which we may recommend to our guests. Booked online "mountainside" as we knew many of them may do. We were disappointed with the room, will probably consider other locations. Pros - great location - nice outdoor pool area - booked online was relatively cheap for the area - room was small but clean Cons - small room, ground floor with no view - remote for TV was broken - light switches turned off and on random outlets - breakfast very expensive for area and quality

Beautiful hotel with great views of Lago Maggiore. The staff is friendly and helpful and the room with balcony facing the lake was wonderful. Their breakfast was good but nothing spectacular. They do need to improve their internet policy, a 240 minute limit per day is a bit outdated.

The hotel is indeed, grand, but not pompous. The room rates quoted were competitive, but when the cost of breakfast was added, become less so. The hotel setting is very good with views across Lake Maggiori, and is convenient for boat trips.

This is an excellent hotel in a very convenient location. The staff were friendly and the hotel was beautiful. The facilities were also excellent. I wish we had been able to stay longer than just one night.

This hotel is grand in more than just a name and still exudes much of the grandeur that existed in its Victorian heyday.On the plus side (and there are many) what stands out is the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, the hotel location and the cleanliness, not just of the room, but of the whole hotel. On the down side, just a few minor criticisms. On arrival it would have been helpful to have been directed to the dining room, swimming pools and other facilities rather than being left to find out for ourselves. The shower was an extension to the tap fitting rather than being separately plumbed, and perhaps the most important of all was the lack of free Wi-Fi which is now available virtually everywhere. But all in all, this was great value for money and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to family and friends.

Good location and good facilities but everything other than the basics cost extra. We had a room for three which was a bit cramped & had a rubbish view. Many of the rooms (including ours) are in an adjacent building, linked by an interior underground walkway so have no view of the lake. Good size swimming pools (interior & exterior).

Excellent location, beautiful exterior, nice balcony with beautiful view of Lake Maggiore, short walk to downtown stresa along the lakefront park. You can't beat the location and the value if you book at a discounted rate.

Nice Hotel with a great pool area. Breakfast was nice with a decent buffet. Only downfall is the charge for Wi-fi which is very expensive.
