"Stay at Palms hotel - Mark Palmer"

10.0

The staff were very friendly. I arrived a bit early, and they were happy to put my rucksack in a safe place until later in the day. I was expecting a single bed but got a double bed, which was a nice surprise. The breakfast was nice as well.

"Excellent port in a storm"

10.0

Palms is one of a strip of half a dozen hotels a few minutes walk from the harbour. I visit Torquay every year and over the past thirty years I've stayed in four of them, none of them bad. For the past twenty years I kept to the same one a few doors down from Palms. Their new management, unwisely in my view, decided to knock one of their two single rooms into the double next door, creating a luxury double. I told them this could well result in the remaining single being booked when I want to come, which is indeed what happened this year. So I tried Palms where I had stayed in 2006 under different management. My room (7) is photo no 2 room/suite, this photo does not show a table, useful for writing. The bed is big as you can see, and the bathroom is nice. I can't comment on the breakfast because when it is charged extra I eat at Wetherspoons (4/5 minute walk away). The nearby amenities are well described in Bill D's review. Last but not least Lena is very friendly, always smiling. As Palms has three single rooms I could well be back again.

"Another great stay."

10.0

We’ve been going here annually for the May bank holiday for the last 8 years and are always well looked after, hence we keep coming back. Lena and her team cannot do enough for you so you have a very pleasant stay. Within a short walk are a Chinese, Indian, Thai, and Italian restaurants. Further down in the harbour are chip shops, pizza and other take -aways. Plus there is a Co-op nearby if you forget anything. The buses run regularly to Brixham and Paignton from a bus stop 200 yards away so no need to use the car. Adult ‘Day Rider’ tickets are currently £7. When you factor in ordinary fares to one place you suddenly realise its good value (for buses). We use these extensively. It’s in A great location.

"A cosy place to stay!"

8.0

My wife and I spent 3 enjoyable nights here to celebrate her Birthday. Lena was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was a shame that due to illness, Breakfast could not be served but Lena ensured we were reimbursed with enough to enjoy Breakfasts in town. I stayed here many many years ago and it has retained all of it's charm. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully return when we are next staying in the area.

"Lovely hosts."

8.0

The place is a great location. Lena was an exceptional host and so welcoming. It is built on a hill so there are many steps from the front. I found everything clean and comfy. I slept well. My room was a bit small but that was minor. Definitely recommend.

"lovely relaxing break."

10.0

Great location, great facilities & amazing hosts. I would advise parking in the car park as the two spaces at the rear are very tight. the car park is only just up the road & a pass is available from reception. Breakfast was lovely with a lot of time & care put into it. Many thanks for a lovely base to stay on our break.
