What a lovely, lovely evening. Small gathering for my daughter's birthday. The staff were brilliant but special mention to Faith - attention to detail was superb. Love this place - highly, highly recommend.

Staff were placere placet, (that was pushing my old latin classes) Thank you Keith, Caroline and everyone, you made our funeral-trip bearable.

We visited the café for brunch and had to ask for our order to be taken after waiting for some time. When the drinks eventually arrived, they were cold. From the taste of the tea, it was obvious it hadn’t been made with hot water. Although the staff replaced the drinks, we were told the coffee couldn’t be made any hotter due to the machine, yet the replacement arrived hot, which made that explanation questionable. The food was equally disappointing. My husband’s smashed avocado was mediocre at best, and my bacon sandwich was very poor. The bacon was hard and clearly either reheated or severely overcooked. While the drinks were removed from the bill, this did little to make up for the overall experience. I expressed my disappointment on leaving, and we will not be returning. Very poor.

The staff here were amazing. Really friendly and helpful. Giving us a lift up to start our coast to coast walk was really appreciated. The food in the restaurant was also the best we had during our 2 week walk.

Recently renovated hotel with very nice rooms and decent pub food in the evening. Also a great breakfast offering.
