Château de Gilly

Amazing place ideal for a romantic getaway. Great and helpful staff. Restaurant is top notch. Rooms are a bit outdated but not a problem. We visited off season just before Christmas and hotel was very quiet.

This is a 3 star hotel. WiFi would not work. Our I pad worked all over Europe except for this "5*" hotel. Our room was large but they had repaired an I beam with steel straps & my wife worried the beam would come down on us the 3 days we stayed there. If you want to stay in an old chateau it's great. 1st time after 5 trips to France, I can say some of the French people were rude.

Right in the heart of the Dijon-area vinyards, this Chateau offers classic elegance over beautiful grounds. There are lots of areas worth exploring within the main building and if it had been sunnier our weekend, a nice pool. With all of the great places to eat and try wine, it was a real treat to find something so unique and well-priced.

Very interesting property. Needs update. Thus not worth the room charge. Restaraunt food poor for the €90 a head including an average Gevrey Chambertin.

The exterior is beautiful as a chateau should be - picturesque! The inside sadly does not match the experience. Service staff was poorly available, inexperienced and untrained. Upon arriving back to the hotel at 8 pm one night the reception was nopen but no staff could be found - we ended up going behind the desk to get our own key - a major security concern. The rooms while interesting are worn and need updating. The furniture was a hodgepodge of old and new, combining period furniture with IKEA type furniture. The restaurant on premises serves good food but is overpriced as is the accommodation for the quality and service available. I have stayed at 4 different chateaus in French wine regions and would return to 3 of them - not to Chateau de Gilly! The nearby Beaune has several attractive properties and while not "chateaus" offer decadent French hospitality. While in the area do make sure that you spend a day cycling through the wine country by contacting Bourgogne Evasion - one of the most beautiful and enjoyable days in French wine coutry.
