"A Little Disappointing"

6.0

We were recommended Atlas Posthotel from friends who spent Christmas in Garnish 3 years ago. We booked an apartment which we knew in advance was not attached to the hotel. This was not an issue however we were on the ground floor opposite a bar. This was the first issue as we could not open the curtains or windows for people smoking outside and the noise. The room was quite big however the bathroom was really small, no light over the small basin so shaving and putting on your make up was difficult. The towels were extremely well worn and so very thin. Apparently the towels were micro chipped so not to have them stolen. Not sure why anyone would want to take the ones we had! Out of our 4 night stay we only had internet for 2. After finding we had no internet the next day we went to ask if there was an issue. Apparently the internet was down and would not be fixed for another day, the day we were leaving. No notification from management was made to us. Perhaps a note under the door might have been a good idea for guests. Apart from issues with the accomodation the hospitality was underwhelming. There was no tourist map or information given about the area. When asked questions the persons at the front desk were either not wanting to engage or were too young to know. The one good thing was the position. Fantastic spot for buses, train to Zugspitz, shopping, cafes and bars.

"Central location, comfortable, warm."

8.0

We booked this hotel months in advance primarily due to its central location and as one of our party of seven has a respitory illness and cannot walk too far. The hotel itself is typical of many of the buildings in Garmisch, very pretty and 'alpine' looking, so from the outside it looks charming and inviting. The inside follows the same theme. There is a lift to the floors if you need it. We booked a double room, a single room and an apartment for four people. The double room was on the first floor and the single was on the second floor in the main building. The apartment was down the side of the hotel and across the road, about a couple of minutes walk. One of the others in my party will be reviewing the apartment. When you check in you are each given a complimentary public transport pass enabling you to travel on the buses free of charge, which is a good money saver and a great way to explore the surrounding area. The bus stops outside the hotel across the road. The double room was a good size and had a king size comfortable bed, plenty of storage space and a modern bathroom with a good shower. The room also had a separate lounge area which had the original wide wooden floor boards and beams in the roof plus a lovely stain glass window that opened. There was a huge comfortable sofa, a coffee table and TV. Would have been nice to have an English channel on the TV, but not a problem. A great space to relax. The breakfast; first of all let me say that the hotel was not that busy at all and as a consequence it might have been that they scaled the breakfast down accordingly, but although it was quite acceptable and adequate, it was average at best. From what I had read on previous reviews, I was expecting a little better than it actually was, but as I've already said, it was okay and I'm not complaining. Not all the rooms have tea/coffee making facilities and ours didn't. However, I asked for a kettle at reception and was given one. The reception staff are very helpful and speak English and we were particularly grateful for the information and advice that was given to us about the cheaper version of the Bayern Ticket when we were leaving. A good solid hotel which is clean, comfortable and in an ideal central location. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Location is great. Hotel is very old. Room doors and locks need to be upgraded. Breakfast buffet was adequate but for Germany I had expected better. There were no alternatives to milk and service was spotty.

"If your looking for the "Right Stuff" you have found it"

10.0

We were traveling around Germany and had made plans to visit Neuschwanstein Castle. We opted to spend a couple of days in Garmisch as our base of operations if you will. What a delight to find this Hotel. Staff is amazing, breakfast is wonderful with a wonderful wait staff. Parking is a premium in this small but beautiful village just minutes from the Zugspitze. Park in the parking lot right on the main street. Everything is within walking distance. Our room was in the building around the corner from the check-in location. Wonderful room, lovely bath, and nice little kitchen. Breathtaking views are all around you. Quaint little alpine village with ALL you need to have a spectacular time.

"Awesome staff, great location"

10.0

My husband had a conference in Garmisch and we had booked a room at another "Pet Friendly" hotel only to find out after a 5.5 hour drive that cats are not welcome (check first next time) we had to find another hotel or I had to drive another 5.5 hours home. I called Atlas and the woman at the desk was VERY helpful, she found us a room made all arrangements for us. The location turned out better than the original hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel

"Hard bed and noisy "

6.0

This hotel is in a great location in the very center of town. There isn’t any real parking available on site with only 5 spaces that are always full. There is public parking a short walking distance away for 2 Euros a day. The double room we rented had a hard bed and the “bedroom” is just a wall that separates the living room. The bed all but touches the walls at the head and foot of the bed. There was quite a bit of noise throughout the night with the church bells ringing every 15 minutes right outside the bedroom window. The bells are nice throughout the day but not what you want to hear all night. The biggest complaint would be that at about 0600 someone turns on music that has a constant beat that is annoying. It may be from the restaurant below the room.

"Small room, good location "

This is probably the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in(I’ve hit my head on the ceiling 3 times already). Don’t book a single room. Location is nice and central. My friends booked better rooms than this.
