Ritter Hotel

Decided to stay here as needed somewhere fairly central and the pictures looked typically 'old' German. How wrong I was. Central, yes, not bad. Old German, no, only the outside and it's not the whole building. Entrance is a single door with a tiny reception area more like an anteroom. Single person desk and just enough room for two people in front of it. Steep stairs going up and down all full with white laundry bags. Not sure that there where enough rooms for all that laundry or if they're running an actual laundry too? Room oddly shaped which is expected in an old building. The furniture is modern, cheap and basic. No comfy chair, just a dining type chair at a computer (!) desk. Room facilities included a plastic tray with 2, yes 2 tea bags and a kettle that still had someone else's water in it, a cup, saucer and crumbs. No spoon, milk etc had to ask for milk which opened to be complicated for them although eventually they brought some. The radiators were all off (it was -10° outside with a wind chill to -15°) so the room was freezing. The receptionist was hugging a hot water bottle it was so cold there. No curtain or blind on the bathroom window overlooking the main street. Wallpaper was bubbling and peeling through damp. Noise. Well, it started when the bar that is in the rest of the building opened up and continued to get louder and louder. You could also hear people talking before it got too busy as the walls are thin. By 22:30 I'd had enough. Went to reception to enquire when the noise would stop or the club/bar closed. Was told it might be 11 or 12 or 1 or 2 am or later. All said with a massive smile as if this was good news. I asked if there was another room that would be quiet. Eventually was shown another at the back of the building which I took. I moved my own belongings, no offer was made to help except that they brought my bedding, which took 2 attempts to fulfill. Second room: cramped, prolong, bubbling paper, no window or extractor fan in the bathroom. Same tea yay set up except it had 2 cups and saucers. Window overlooked an enclosed space, no view. Radiators also turned off. Shower curtain secured by red thin rope. Pluses: allowed to have room early at no extra charge. Provided a socket adapter for a returnable €20. Heating worked when turned on but took a lot of time to heat up as so cold. Bathroom water very hot, shower good. Bed comfy. Central location. Staff helpful with directions. Night porter was lovely. This is a not that cheap place to sleep that thinks it's a hotel but isn't. It's more akin to a student hostel. If you want somewhere that's not cheap, in the centre of the drinking area, that won't get upset if you come back drunk and you want somewhere to doss down then this is it folks! If you want somewhere to stay that is present and in this century for services and customer care...AVOID!

Stayed 1 night had requested 2 x twin rooms with additional beds - i.e. 2 x 3 bedded rooms which was confirmed with e bookers when arrived staff at reception had no understanding off this irritating as paying for 3 per room. Best comparative is Faulty Towers !!

Bon hôtel, à 2pas du Main, 15 minutes du Dome, mais beaucoup de pubs en bas de l'hôtel très fréquentés les vendredis soir et samedis soir jusque 5h du matin. Attendez-vous à ne pas dormir

The Ritter Hotel is idealy located in Old Sachsenhausen. Our room was on 1st floor and directly located towards the very animated and loud street. A lot of young people party until late so it's very hard to have some quiet. However, the room was clean and big. Might be better to book this hotel on a weekday rather than a weekend.

Wunderbares Ambiente im alten Fachwerkhaus. Personal sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich, hilfsbereit. Frühstücksbuffet in Ordnung. Lage im alten Stadtviertel mit vielen kleinen Gässchen und Kneipen, im Sommer möglicherweise laut, jetzt im Winter ruhig. Kein Straßenverkehr. Kostenloses Wlan. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt. Gern wieder.

Located in a super cute area, however it is above a bar and gets super loud. The front desk people are abrupt and offer zero amenities. Bathroom was disgusting mold all over. The floor was dirty keep shoes on. The upside is it is warm.

Excellent value, 10 of us stayed 2 nights for around 600 euros. Perfect for what we wanted, pubs and clubs 10 meters away. There are countless pubs in this area and great place to stay for a stag do or lads weekend. Would stay here again next time! Thanks

As the title suggests this was a fairly basic hotel, however the rooms were clean. Not the type of hotel I could see myself logging around in all day, however to shower and sleep it was ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful and the cleaner works her socks off. I loved the location of this hotel. It is across the river from the financial area but by goodness the bars and restaurants on your doorstep were to die for. I would go back in the future.

The room was small but clean. The house is really old and the noisees those of old housees. I stayed from wednesday to monday in august and had no trobble sleeping, although the room was to Grosse Rittergasse. The service was frendly; some problems with languages. Breakfast was good enough for the prise.
