Can get a little noisy and the area starts to see a lot of poverty and homelessness however staff are great at pointing you in the right direction in keeping you away from it all. Can be noisy but I enjoyed this as part of my experience it’s all locked up and secure so felt super safe 😊

I cannot express how friendly and helpful staff was. We felt safe with the security (being buzzed in to the hotel). We had originally booked another hotel and that hotel was sketchy and canceled our reservations with no notice so we reserved the Layne Hotel. Would stay here again!

Staff was very kind. The room was very clean and well kept. Only caveat was the lack of air conditioning but once I cracked the window, SF weather kept it cool. Hotel was on the brink of the unsafe part of downtown, but staff let me know to just avoid going down the street. It never felt unsafe. It was a little noisy at times, but what can you expect being downtown in a big city really? I would return if ever in SF again :-)

Nice, quaint classical San Francisco hotel with comfortably firm bed and sink in room. Great value for money as the hotel is clean the maids are polite and the gentleman on the front desk is full of tips on how to make your stay go smoothly. The front reception is manned 24hours.

The property is on the fringes of one of the less savory zones of San Francisco however as a solo male traveller I didn’t have any issues and honestly for the price you can’t argue.

Had a great stay there, hotel staff were very friendly.
