Alegre - Bussaco Boutique Hotel

Lovely hotel in excelent location. Very friendly staff. Cozy little pool in a very quaint garden. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Our second time to Alegre Hotel gave us an opportunity to revisit the charm of a wonderful small town in the interior of Portugal and manor house full of "Old Portugal." We were not disappointed, nor were the guests who accompanied us on this current trip. The furniture, setting, and manners are classic Portuguese, so don't expect granite showers, big screen televisions, and herbal organic bath gels. Go elsewhere for that. But if you like the character, grace, and dignity that only can be provided to the traveler who seeks a different tempo, with more than enough comfort and modern conveniences to satisfy you without indulgence, Hotel Alegre is your place. The sitting room near the check in desk is vintage Portugal charm, and the breakfast in the formal room in the morning is plentiful and attentive. Luso has several good restaurants and take some bottles and fill them up from the delicious cool waters of the ancient spring. Take the short trip up to Buçaco and be amazed at the gardens, convent, giant trees, and echoes and memories of a time long past. Perhaps we won't wait three years again to visit. Enjoy Alegre and this gem of the interior of Portugal!

Very special experience of an old palace that belong to a comte in the last century the hotel is very close to the entrance of the forest of bucaco beautiful place the hotel is a little difficult to find the GPS doesnt know the adress!!

Very good hotel. The hotel is an old and big house. It seems to be a palace, You feel to be transporte to the past. The maintanance is good and the host is very attention with us. You need a car to stay there, but its worth. Located in a small city Meadalhada near from Coimbra ( aorund 20min.) and Porto (around 50min.). Breakfast simple, but has everything you need. Very good.

Very unique hotel and we had an extremely pleasant stay here. Beautiful hotel in picturesque surroundings- Ask Nuno ( hotel owner) for recommendation of places to see and eat.Although some updating would be good it does not take away from our visit in the slightest. If there is one place we would stay again- its here! Also nice pool- shame we didnt have time to enjoy...

we were very unsure as we had never been to Portugal as a family and had to go this particular area because of the football championships being held there. I found this hotel on the internet and worked out that it was probaqbly in the middle of where we needed to be. It was perfect !!! The location was beautiful, the hotel was very traditional, extremely clean, had a lovely pool and was extremely relaxing. The surrounding village was beautiful, the people in the cafes were very friendly and hardwaorking and tried very hard with speaking English. We had a lovely time there and my husband and I will definitely be looking to go back. The train links to Porto airport were very good and very very cheap. Thoroughly recommended - probably not for a family with small children.
