Hotel Via Roma

Had 2 nights in Salzburg. Just about walkable to the old town (15 mins each way). Hotel comfortable and excellent breakfast. The bathroom was very smart, with a beautiful walk in shower. We couldn't make the air conditioning work. Fortunately it wasn't too hot.

Wonderful little motel with easy parking about 1-2 miles from all the action. Easy walk to all the attractions though. Great Italian restaurant attached to the Motel, make sure to eat there, We thought it was great! There's a bus stop out front as well where you can ride the bus to the attractions very easily if you don't want to walk.

Especially pleased with front desk staff. Very helpful and friendly.

Best Italian restaurant in europe. Right next door

The hotel and staff are excellent. The location is perfect for sightseeing. The only problem was the wi-first in the original room. We were movery once we pointed out the problem. If you aren't close to elevator area you have no service. Also be aware that you are limited to 2 devices. When we went down to report the issue of it not working they had me try my cell phone, when we moved into the new room I tested by logging in laptop. Later in the evening when hubby tried to log on we were told we had to pay for 3rd device. After a strong argument, the fee was waived....

After reading about how crowded Salzburg can be during the Salzburg Festival, I looked into renting a bicycle for transportation, as Salzburg is highly rated as a bicycle friendly town. I found a Topbike Salzburg, a website that listed hotels that offered bicycle rentals on site, and that is how I found the Hotel Via Roma. The hotel replied quickly to my inquiry to confirm they did indeed rent bicycles. When I arrived at the hotel, I was able to quickly rent a bicycle and get on my way. The receptionist marked a route on the provided map, and gave directions that were easy to follow. Salzburg has many bicycle routes, and it was a great way to see the city. There is a wonderful path that runs along both sides of the river.

Really helpful and friendly staff -check in was 3pm but we arrived early. Although the room wasn't ready, we were able to use the facilities and store our luggage for later. The concierge had informed the person on the next shift so we didn't have to 'check in ' again when we returned. The location isn't central but not too far away either - there are some nice restaurants on the quieter roads heading into Salzburg that give lovely views of the castle and you can go through the park to head up over the burg to get into the city for a calmer change. Everything at the hotel was really functional and clean, the only thing we didn't expect was that you can see into the shower from the bedroom - an intentional design. However, the glass is frosted at the midriff section so you can't see any 'bits' ha-ha! Definitely recommend staying here.

Very goo but not a true double bed.
