Villa Chiarenza Maison d'Hotes

We booked the Superior Double for the verandah and views of Etna. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The garden terrace for breakfast was very pleasant and the lady of the house is very approachable. Once we moved to the room we paid for, the views are to die for and everything we expected.

The rating is due to being given a Quadruple room with no view of Etna and a balcony you could barely step onto instead of Superior Double. We could not address the wrong room that evening as no one was around. Next morning, she apologised profusely and arranged to move us (thanks to Google translate). Also, check in is supposed to be between 1200 - 2200. We advised 1500 arrival to be told No as no one would be there. We arrived around 1700 as instructed only to find car park full and had to double park .. badly lit parking area too small for number of cars, not easy to manoeuvre around. Property in need of maintenance (electric gates manually operated for example). Did not feel welcomed - as you walk into the "museum", chairs taped off, rooms felt inaccessible. Breakfast was served to us, several "samplers" of Sicilian fare to share, no choice ... Not even a choice of fruit or juice. Not to our taste. Felt it had been prepared much earlier. Location - now in a noisy suburb some 20 mins walk from amenities through badly lit residential side streets. Not easy to find. Having booked the more expensive Superior room for the Etna views, it was a shame we had a night in the wrong room as it impacted our overall impression.

Salvatore and Agatha were extremely welcoming and generous hosts. Villa Chiarenza felt like stepping into a family home, and the property was beautifully well kept with a serene garden/terrace. Extremely comfortable and well appointed rooms and breakfast exceeded expectations. One of our group members has celiac and the hosts were extremely accommodating in providing gluten free options at breakfast, they went above and beyond. Will stay here again in the future, we had a lovely stay!

The hosts Salvatore and Agatha are the sweetest ever. Their villa is beautyful with great view of mt Etna. Breakfast was a feast, delicious and more than enough. I recommend everyone to stay here if in the vicinity.

Beautiful & cosy old Sicilian house with original old furniture and painings. Breakfast self-made by owners. Rooms are perfectly clean. You can feel Sicilian palazzo atmosphere!

All was perfect form the breakfast till the late-night time in the garden. The view on the Etna is amazing! Even the highway is close.

Agata and Salvatore were incredibly welcoming and attentive. I truly appreciate their efforts to accommodate my needs during my stay. The villa exceeded all my expectations, and the room was exactly what I was looking for. The location is about a 15-20 minute walk from the beach, which was almost perfect for me, though it's worth noting that I wasn't traveling by car. The terrace of my room offered a view of Etna, although it does face the road. Thankfully, it was never too loud in the mornings or at night, so noise was never an issue. Salvatore’s breakfasts were fantastic—plenty of food to keep me energized through the afternoon. This was my first time in Sicily, and I know where I'll stay next time I visit.
