Hotel Portocobo

Fantastic place to stay - amazing view, worth a little bit extra for ocean view room. Comfortable bed, plenty of parking and local area beautiful. Short drive to A Coruña for the day.

Sehr schönes Hotel, sehr freundliches Personal, sehr gepflegt direkt an der Bucht Santa Cruz mit Castello-Insel. Unbedingt Zimmer mit Meerblick buchen. Frühstück hervorragend. Mit viel frischem Obst, Rührei etc. . Parkplätze kostenfrei direkt am Hotel. Unbedingt empfehlenswert.

Limpieza buena, atención del personal excelente, pero el fallo que le he visto es la insonorización, bastante ruido. Y las trabajadoras de la limpieza no paran de dar portazos cada vez que entran y salen de una habitación, molestando de ese modo a los alojados en el hotel.

Excelente hotel, atención impecable, zona preciosa

We spent few nights in this hotel last July while visiting A Coruña. We chose it because of the vicinity to the beach. Our rooms had a view of the bay of Coruña and the tiny, lovely, Isla de Santa Cruz. They were clean and well appointed. Rather than using the air conditioning, we opted to keep the windows open, enjoying the soothing sound of the waves lapping the beach. Generally the hotel was quiet, the only exception was the evening during which a wedding celebration took place in the area below our windows. It did not trouble us, but those with a lighter sleeping pattern may wish to opt for rooms further away from the terrace. The hotel has a delightful garden where we were able to walk once (as it is not always open) of which we admired the well kept borders and the view from the shaded seats. The public beach below the hotel is clean and was not crowded while we we there - end of July. It is in easy reach of the hotel via a path to the promenade that goes around the building. We did not use the hotel’s restaurant as we wanted to try the local restaurants. The hotel is connected to Coruña by a bus (less than two euros per person, bus stop a short walk away). A taxi rank is in walking distance too, but the hotel staff was always kind in booking for us when needed.

Towels were good. A bit out of town but you get a lower price as a result. I had a car so cannot comment if A Coruna is easily accessible. Free parking was good and the hotel room was comfortable. There is a public beach out front but the water for a little too cold for this Aussie. One would have to swim at high tide also. Supermarkets are nearby and staff were friendly. Had a view across to A Coruna.

Nice hotel

Lovely sea view. We found it easy to get around by car, lots of other nice beaches to visit all within 20 mins drive. The hotel staff very helpful with restaurant and beach recommendations.

Two years on and this is still a great little place to stay, offering a comfortable stay with great views over the bay and castle. The bar is pleasant and light, offering a good choice of drinks and snacks. The dining room is a good alternative to local eateries, if a touch bland. On the downside, it can get noisy as the halls are very echoey, and with wedding parties going on, this can go until quite late. One major disappointment is that despite the recent renovations, we were not able to access the garden, meaning there is still no terrace bar!
