Hotel Falken

This property is definitely not like what you see in the pictures. It's a very old outdated room. It was so crammed and for the price we pay, it's ridiculously very basic. The bathroom was so crammed. The staff were OK, not very friendly, except for one porter who was very helpful and nice. The breakfast was average. Not what we expected for such a price.

This hotel was perfect for our family! I loved the old fashioned charm and the views were to die for. Perfect location and the service was top notch. This is my new favorite place to stay in Wengen!

Both the Hotels.com and The Falken Hotel trumpeted the excellent Hotel restaurant on their websites. This was one of the main reasons that we booked. We were looking forward to this - but arrived only to be told that the Hotel restaurant was closed for Low Season. We said that we understood this but that it should have been mentioned on their website, as otherwise we would not have booked. The Proprietress had no answer to this, other than to keep repeating the above excuse. of 'low season'. Both Hotels.com and the Hotel Falken are at fault here. There was no option to book full board on the Hotels.com website so we had to wait until arrival at the hotel before we found out that there was no restaurant. We ate instead at the Italian restaurant at the other end of town (one of only two open) and on 2 nights got soaked walking there (no lift available from the hotel). Other nights we had a picnic in our room. The hotel itself is well past its prime. I understand that their main selling point is that it is traditional and historic - but if was difficult to find any comfortable place to sit on the ancient furniture in the lounge area. Our beds were clean and acceptable but definitely not super comfy or intended for stays of more than a few days. Finally, do not try to do the 7/8 minute walk with your luggage up to the hotel from the station unless you are young and fit. It is very, very steep and we were glad we had booked a pick up from the hotel.

It is a charming hotel. Very unique. Amazing views. Very clean. Love it.

Excellent location, views are to die for. The hotel is very old and historic. Tub over flows and the sink has separate hot and cold taps. No iron or blow drier. There was a wedding that weekend and we didn’t get a good night sleep - they were very loud. Steep walk from the train station, definitely not for the elderly or people with bad knees. Some servers at breakfast were not friendly. Will I go back? Maybe.

Such a homey vibe. Family run hotel makes like your at home! Breakfast was even better, was assigned my own table with fast attentive service! If there was a higher rating it would be a 10! Thank you for an amazing experience Falken Family!

We loved Hotel Falken and would definitely stay there again! Wengen is centrally located to many activities (Jungfraujoch, Lauterbrunnen, Trummelbach Falls, Schilthorn, Interlaken) and the town itself is quaint and absolutely gorgeous (there are many restaurants, grocery store, skylift/cable car, tennis courts, swimming pool, park, church, mini-golf, cows). We parked at the Lauterbrunnen train station and it is about a 10 min train ride to get to Wengen (they leave every 30 mins). The hotel is just a short walk from the train station which we found convenient for our entire stay for carrying luggage, catching trains etc- vs being at another hotel further away in the town. The staff was very nice and helpful, especially Alice, who greeted us with drinks, gave us recommendations for restaurants, and also tips on navigating the trains and many activities nearby. The owner brings her sweet dogs to the hotel and my children looked forward to seeing them every day! They were able to accommodate our family of 5 in one room and the kids loved their loft type bedroom! Breakfast was from 7am-10am and they have a table reserved for you with your room number on the table. They do offer dinner 5 nights/week. The views from the room are stunning and it was fun to hear the bells from the cows and sheep when the windows are open. The bedding was comfortable and they give you a bottle of water every day. We loved it and we wished we could've stayed longer!
