Cottages at Little River Cove

Beautiful location and charming cottages! The view is breathtaking and the grounds are so pretty. There are walking paths and reading chairs and benches to enjoy the view and a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. My daughter and I came up here with our dog Shadow and it was perfect. The cottage is so charming and the space is ample with lots of light and a beautiful view. Checking in and out was very easy and the management was super responsive. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend!!

The sea views were incredible. It was also quiet and peaceful. I think they had all units full, but we didn’t hear anyone else.

Entry to the driveway off the main road was very difficult. The turn lane had just ended, and cars couldn’t go around me. The second time I pulled off to the driveway across from the cottages, and waited for a break in the traffic. The bed was a king size but it was very old and sagged like a hammock. The kitchen equipment was a bit hit or miss. Sufficient for breakfast and some snacks, you’d probably miss something if you tried to cook a full meal. The cottage overall while looking nice in the photos was very rundown. A new vanity in the bathroom, but the shower taps were all rusted. The bathroom door has paint peeling in large areas.

We loved the kitchen, the bed was comfortable, the porch was nice and the fireplace kept us warm.

The propane pit was not working. Disappointing. There was some flooring which needed replacing.

My stay at the Cottages was delightful! First time staying there and was very surprised and happy with my cottage “Mendocino”. The view was amazing and I had everything I needed except ice trays which was no deal breaker just bought ice from store. Notified them when I checked out and they will make sure the next guest will have trays and they appreciated the information. Cottage was easy to check in. Self check in as they provide you with your door code via email and text day prior. Atmosphere was great as being a solo traveler I felt safe during my stay. Had my morning coffee on the deck and evening cocktail as well listening to the ocean and watching the waves. I wish I would’ve stayed there during whale season because they do have binoculars in the room which was awesome but June is not that time of the year. The sunsets were amazing. Took tons of photos. The bed super comfortable and bedroom very spacious. Lots of closet space too and the living / kitchen area are perfect size. I was there for 3 nights and 2 days and I was not ready to leave.. needed one more day but it was time boo hoo! Next time I’m gonna book 4 nights and three days. I feel you definitely get your moneys worth at this cottage. The cottages are easy to get to right off highway one and all have a great view of ocean. All pets are welcome at this place which really got my attention because originally I was gonna be traveling with my cat but things changed. I got to see a few dogs that during my stay. They have a nice lawn area and they provide a dog waste station with bags so easy cleanup. There is a gas fire pit out front with BBQ and chairs to enjoy. You could sit out there and enjoy the evening listening to the ocean. Also there’s chairs on the lawn where you can enjoy the ocean view with your favorite beverage and/or snacks as well. Since my cottage was facing straight at the ocean, I could just enjoy it from my deck, which I did every chance I got! Thank you Cottages at Little River for a wonderful and relaxing stay.. I will be back!! Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention Mendocino the town of is a very short drive from the cottages and Fort Bragg is just up the road as well which I visited both of them several times while I was there for some great meals and shopped at the local grocery store in Mendocino I believe it’s called harvest great store has everything you need and more. Also a couple of restaurants I wanna call out is Cafe 1 in Fort Bragg for the best breakfast you’ll ever have is a local diner there and I was so happy I was told about it and they serve breakfast all day so you’re in luck until 2:00 pm. Both times that I visited there I had their biscuits and gravy breakfast so yummy. The staff there is very helpful and friendly, they make you feel like family. I told them that if I lived there, I would be visiting every day if not every other day lol. Also went to Goodlife café and bakery in Mendocino for the Eggs Benedict as I had read the reviews that said they had the best eggs Benedict ever so I had to find out for myself, and the reviews were not wrong. I went back the next day on my way out of town for some baked goods from Goodlife to bring home so yummy!

We stayed in the Dillon cottage. It was very nice. The cottage had a fireplace and a full kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. The staff sent us clear communication, so we knew exactly what to expect. We would stay here again.

This was our second time staying at the Cottages and Little River Cove, and for us it's the perfect location and accommodations for a quick getaway to the Mendocino coast. It's a quick 5-minute drive to the town of Mendocino, and maybe about 20 minutes to Fort Bragg, with lots of beaches and state parks nearby to visit. It's amazing to stay in a little stand-alone cottage, equipped with a kitchen and comforts like a fireplace. The fire pit at the cottages is also a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset. We had a wonderful stay again, and feel like this is a hidden gem of a place to stay - nicer than just a motel, but you don't feel like you're breaking the bank either like some of the other high-end accommodations in the area. We will be back again!
