Cottages at Little River Cove

We booked Elk which had a spectacular, unobstructed view of the ocean. Property is located off the Hwy but it’s very quiet and your focus is on trees and the water. Simple 8 minute drive to Mendocino. Stopped along the way at Van Damm beach and rented kayaks for Big River. Short trail across the road to an impressive Blowhole…great for a sunset toast. My husband and I are both tall and the Queen bed was comfortable.

Odd noise at night in the kitchen that happened twice both nights. Doubt it was a critter as it was the same sound and length of time which was short. Still worth the stay and I’d book it again. Maybe the refrigerator?

The cottage was lovely! Spacious, clean, well equipped. Comfy living area with sofa bed and gas fireplace. The view was wonderful, all the way down to the beach. Check in was simple. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay again.

I love these cottages so much, it's the only place I stay anymore when I go to Mendocino/Fort Bragg. So much better than a hotel room, you are getting a house! Total privacy, but when you want to meet people, just go out to the front lawn, especially if you have a dog. No better place to stay with a dog! Truly a gem.

I stayed in the Albion and can't speak to the other cottages. Walking into the bungalow, you are struck with a beautiful view through 2 corner windows of the Mendocino coast. Just magnificent! There's a good sized living room, full kitchen and refrigerator, a small 4 seater dining area, a bedroom (almost entirely taken up by a queen bed) with a sliding door that opens onto a balcony and a full bathroom. I asked for decaf coffee ahead of time and that was waiting for me together with a small bottle of white wine from a local winery. There is no internet unless you connect to the property's wifi which is more than adequate - about 60 mbps in this bungalow. The bungalow temperature is controlled by a thermostat and a self-igniting gas fireplace. These are the plus-es. On the minus side, the balcony had no view to speak of at all, looking mostly at the exit road and the side of the bungalow in front of the Albion. (I think the view from the other bungalow balconies is better.) The furniture was old and very worn. The couch/ pull out bed in the living room was hard and not particularly comfortable to sit on watching TV. The biggest negative was my bathroom (but only the bathroom) was crawling with ants. When I mentioned it to the property contact they were quick to say they'll address but, unfortunately, it was time for me to leave before they could. (My fault for late notification to them). In all, it is a comfortable (not luxurious) stay in a spectacularly beautiful area at a reasonable price. It's a solid 3* accommodation in a 4-5* setting at a reasonable price.

The location and views were lovely! The surrounds were really quiet and peaceful.

All the furnishings were really tired. The sofa bed was suitable for only one person willing to 'rough it', and no mattress protector was supplied for it. The windows and high areas had not been cleaned in a long time.
