Royal Hotel

The hotel was obviously very grand in its day and the lobby area still has a certain charm but the rooms are terrible after being located down corridors through doors our room was disgusting and completely unacceptable. We complained and moved rooms to a bizarre dated suite with an abundance of 70s cracked leather furniture. Such a shame the hotel chain is not looking after it and it’s paying customers.

Totally unacceptable to be charging anything for some of the rooms.

Lovely staff very helpful, little bit dated but very clean renovations going on but did not disturb us at all lovely room and bathroom

The bed ! First night headboard fell off was quickly fixed next day . The bed it's self was extremely uncomfortable had to sleep at the bottom of the bed on the second night .

I had to pay for a family room.when I.booked a double. Also breakfast was included, but was told it wasn't . The breakfast was very poor with very little choice and the room was clean but very outdated and tatty. Also there was refurbishment going on constantly while we had breakfast every morning with constant banging and the room.was very cold ,there were a lot of old people there which wasn't acceptable at all. I complained but was told they didn't deal with issues as booking.com was a third party and it was down to them ???

Nothing. The room was misrepresented and we couldn’t believe what we had paid ! An awful run down toon for 230 pounds !!!!

Marked walls. Just two thin pillows and quilt. Old worn furniture and cracked tiles in bathroom. Even the telly remote had no back ! The view was a rooftop with rubbush on! We had to stay there but couldn’t wait to leave ! How can they charge that price. ? Please beware !!

The location was really good. Breakfast was fresh and hot.

Our filter in coffee machine was mouldy.took it straight down and got told it woukd be cleaned and put back. As we got in later that evening it was still missing so didn't benefit from using it. Also paid for Seaview room and the corner of one of the corner windows was all we could see from so wouldn't class that as sea view to be fair.

The location is great although our room was at the back with a view of an alley with bins etc.

Overpriced! £209 for a dreary room and not even a breakfast included. The mattress must have been 20 year old and the place was tatty
