Royal Hotel

We only booked a standard double room, but when we checked in we were given the keys to the fabulous Sitwell suite at the front of the hotel with sea views. It was lovely.

If you go to the bar in the afternoon there is no one there, and you have to go to the cafe/bar across the hall, then the poor elderly Lady has to run back the the main bar to get your drinks,leaving the cafe bar that is open to the public unmanned and very vulnerable. There should be a member of staff in each bar.

Large double bed and lots of hot water

Industrial extractor fan from the kitchen outside bedroom window plus a wedding reception on with music playing until midnight, wasn't informed about that happening

Location staff entertainment.

Side cabinets in room no plug socket for lamp The evening meal was very cold twice, the evening meal returned and not paid for.. Service / staff was great. Breakfast excellent.

Comfortable room with a sea view

Very poor choice for buffet dinner. Lukewarm carrot and coriander soup. Good roast ham spoiled by fatty roast potatoes( only half a dozen left by 7:15 pm) and lukewarm carrots. I did not choose to have broccoli, as it looked mushy and over cooked. For dessert there had been apple pie, but this was finished, and in spite of asking for more,none appeared.Only cheese cake left. We had to go to the bar to collect a bottle of wine and 2 glasses,as this available in the dining room.

I loved the location, The gym facilities, The heritage of the hotel etc

The room had a light hanging out the ceiling in the bathroom, There were screws hanging out the head board of the bed were it had been attempted to be fixed to the wall..sea gulls woke us up at 2.30am on the window ledge outside, The tv was hanging off the wall. Huge amounts of dust on most surfaces!!

The location and the hotels decor, the staff were really helpful.

The room was basic(what we paid for) and dated, however the bed was really uncomfortable.

The windows didn't stay open, the room was too hot. The place looked very tired.
