Sossusvlei Lodge

Great location. Nice hotel. Biggest complaint was wine only available by bottle in both restaurant and bar.

Enjoyed our stay. Adventure Center staff and guide (Enos) were excellent. Room was ready for our 9AM check-in. A/C didn't work when we got into our room but was fixed once reported. Minor inconvenience. Food was good and setting was excellent. Biggest complaint was lack of electrical plugs in the room and no face cloths with the towel sets.

nice rooms though a bit dark, especially with the windows zipped up which needed to happen to get the a/c to be effective. Location great right outside the gates to the park. Good selection of food at dinner though breakfast seemed to be similar offerings from the night before. Staff friendly enough but definitely could have been more helpful/enthusiastic about what activities were available. They seemed to want to push us towards all the pay activities and not as informative about what we could do on our own.

We arrived at the lodge after a long drive over a good gravel road. A cold face cloth and refreshing drink greeted us on arrival and we were soon taken to our tented chalet. Despite the heat, the air-conditioned tented bedroom area cooled us down. We could never have anticipated the veritable feast provided for dinner on that first evening; an incredible variety of meat and fish as well as a stir-fry if desired, was accompanied by many different vegetables. All of this after a well-laid out 'starter' table and finished off with an array of desserts. We enjoyed a guided tour into Sossusvlei with a walk to Deadvlei in the morning and in the evening took advantage of the Sunset Drive. We saw little game, but did see bushmen paintings, but the view of the sunset from our viewpoint amongst the red sandstone hills was terrific. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Lost reservation upon arrival, toilet did not flush, shower did not drain, tent roof broken and in need of repair. No water bottles in the room, no wifi etc. For the cost of the room the value was lacking. Dinners were fine. Front desk staff very unfriendly the rest of the staff were very nice.

The dinner and breakfast buffet were excellent. the room is a 'fancy tent' which stays under the sun all day getting super hot. However, if you are in Sossussvlei, you shouldnt be spending much time inyour room, anyways. ;)

Fantastic situation, food, staff and facilities. Downside was the very violent wind which rocks the accomodation and makes sleeping difficult.

Would definitely recommend this hotel - beautiful location, right outside the national park, and everything has been designed really well to fit in with the surroundings but with maximum comfort. The buffet was amazing, especially considering how remote the location is - fantastic BBQ with about 15 different types of meat on offer, loads of fresh fruit, salad, pasta, soups, desserts galore - the list goes on and on. Breakfast and lunch fantastic too - we don't usually book full board but were delighted we did on this occasion.
