Sossusvlei Lodge

Food service was great!

This was a poor choice of hotel. We chose it because of previous ratings and location. The location was good and so was the food. However the rooms did not meet expectation by far! The staff were surly and generally lacked the courtesy and customer service expected from a hotel charging high prices, as this does. The hotel desperately needs a refurbishment (which I believe is planned in the very near future). That should make a big difference. If improved staff training is added to this then there is definite hope for this hotel.

A lovely oasis in the desert. We loved the tented rooms and the privacy of each room. Very conveniently located for a visit to Sossusvlei. The staff was friendly and dinner was excellent with an amazing selection of venison.

A long drive on gravel road with beautiful scenery along the way. The rooms were nice partial tents with a Outside patio where you could See Gemsbok right outside Your door- amazing. We booked activities through the hotel and We're happy with everything.

Great stay. Dinner buffet was excellent! there is also the option to stay in the Dessert 7 Dessert Quiver Lodge (lower price) which belong to the Sossusvlei and come for dinner at the Lodge!

Ideal location on the gateway to the park. I was considering staying at Le Mirage but i'm glad I didn't as another 20km on those dirt roads would have been troublesome. The WIFI was very in and out but it was possible to get some signal during the night if your room was close to reception. The tent (i.e your bedroom) could be noisy at night due to the winds blowing the zips but you soon get use to it. Overall the room was good being self contained but the price was large considering there is no fridge or TV. The food however was excellent and I really enjoyed having the meals outside facing the incredible views!

Very nice lodge with a wonderful location for exploring Sossusvlei. Dinner was incredible but the breakfast is average. My only issues were that the room was quite dark (and the desk lamp didn't work at all) and that the lodge is big relative to other ones in Namibia, making the experience somewhat impersonal.

Loved this Lodge - will recommend to any and all, everything was catered for, and sitting in such a remote area I must say very well done to the staff, and even more to the management for such a well run establishment.

We enjoyed our stay in this place which has a lot of charm and a great location in the middle of the savannah with uninterrupted views of the wildernesses. Conveniently located for access to Sossulvei park. It was not as luxurious as we expected from the pictures, but you have to look at it in context of where it is, and taking this into account it is a good standard. Staff were erratic, however, with some friendly, smiling and charming and others less so. Our main gripe was they had lost our reservation when we arrived (their fault) and this matter was not handled well by receptionist who tried to make out it was our fault and at one time seemed not to be willing to put us up. Not what you want after a 6 hour drive through the desert to the middle of nowhere and this caused some stress. Fortunately they eventually found us a room and I managed to resolve the lost reservation through hotels.com the next day. Although the manager did apologise for their error, some gesture from them by way of an apology would have been welcome and should have I believe been forthcoming in the circumstances. After this though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this peaceful wilderness location. Dinner buffet under the stars was also very good, but wrap up warm at night.

Tented rooms spacious but our bathroom had a foul smell. Dinner exquisite: great variation and food quality.
