The Royal Hotel Elgin

Bed was amazing - everything worked properly and the room was scrupulously clean. Even the radiators worked, ideal for a Scottish Summer! Very spacious, and comfortable.

Very personal preference I know, but I would have liked to be walking around on a carpet in the main room. Makes the room feel a little cosier, but I know it's just me being picky.

Nobody at reception when I arrived and had to pay for the accommodation after 4pm. Could not close bathroom door.

I ate in the bar for dinner, food was good and service great. The hotel is nice with plenty of parking, room was big and incredibly clean! The shower was a highlight, spacious, modern and powerful. Breakfast was one of the best quality I have had in Scotland, nice clean set up and very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again if the price is good.

The outside of the hotel bit rundown

We received a free upgrade to larger rooms on both rooms booked which was great, specially for my adult son who was given a king room instead of a single. Bed was huge and comfortable and rooms very big also. Breakfast was fine although could have been explained a little better as to what you helped yourself to etc Plenty of parking spaces available

There was a sound of dripping water in the toilet on and off throughout the night although I am a very light sleeper anyway!

Opposite Lidl with neon sign. No curtains in room, just a roller blind so it was light all night. Heard lots of traffic and sirens. Very hard pillows and mattress

Softer mattress and pillows and curtains. Double glazing would help.
