The Royal Hotel Elgin

I spent a comfortable night in the hotel's main building, in a spacious, refurbished room. It is clearly an old hotel where great efforts are being made to bring it up to modern standards and I wish it well - for it is in an excellent location for Elgin's attractions. I would, however, suggest replacing the front door in order to improve a somewhat dowdy first impression on arrival.

Very spacious and comfortable room. Very good breakfast. Cleaned and tidied each day. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good parking spaces.

No dinner at weekends.

Nothing the hotel was a miserable place to stay. I was with my son for 3 nights. The room was clean and bed comfortable, but there was no where to put your clothes. The staff were very unprofessional, the receptionist was useless. I asked her a couple of questions, she could not give me answer just said "don't know: Bar was not open. seemed very little staff. Very noisy at night, I presume it may have been the plumbing Would not recommend. We spent our evening at the hotel next door

Would have been nice to see out of the window. My bedroom window had frosted glass and did not open.

Room size was good.

There were no bedside lamps on the side tables. Paint was cracked and flaking around windows

Honestly, horrible experience. Just don't bother. £125 for 1 night, rooms are VERY basic, food wasnt great, wouldn't recommend at all. Hotel isnt as advertised, at all.
