OUTRIGGER Koh Samui Beach Resort

Loved it!!

This was our first trip to Thailand and we selected the Outrigger Ko Samui based on our previous great experiences with Outrigger Hotels in Hawaii and were not disappointed. The hotel had a colonial feel about it and gave off a distinct family vibe. As first time visitors we were excited to see what the Hotel would offer and how this would work with our Holiday and I have to say it was perfect . We got a Taxi from the airport and were warmly greeted at the Hotel with a refreshing drink and talked quickly and efficiently through the check in process and shown to our room. The Bell team were superb , very polite and spoke to us using our name which was great , made us feel welcome . The bags were taken to the room for us. We were shown around our room and the amenities explained included air con , fans , water and Locks . We stayed in a Club garden Terrace room and this was superbly located and was a really spacious and well laid out room , bonus was we also had a Bath as well as a shower -lol A mention to View who greeted us on the first morning, to ensure that we arrived safely and had settled in ok and had everything we needed. View was also around many times throughout our stay in the hotel and in the Voyager lounge and was always available and keen to discuss plans and offer invaluable advice, a valuable / important member of the Hotel Team with a great personality and manner The breakfast served up in Mala restaurant was excellent with plenty of Variety for everybody , from Hot or cold selections and to a variety of tastes. The Guys at the egg station worked extremely hard to cater to everybody’s taste -credit to those guys , never stopped producing eggs for all tastes / everybody . From an English perspective only comment would be , when will people learn to cook bacon properly , rather than cremate it, just a taste observation and did not detract from the enjoyment of breakfast At breakfast we were greeted warmly each day by members of the Hotel Team ,and they welcomed us by name and discussed the days plans and offered warm advice / suggestions . The waiting staff were excellent , always smiling full of energy and fun and extremely hard working . Ensuring plates and glasses were cleared away , and attending to any needs or requirements . Special Mention here to Michael who has to be the hardest working person ever , always on the go and appearing all over the Hotel , he always had a smile on his face and an incredible work ethic, and was always keen to offer advice and provide information relating to the Hotel and Ko Samui The Hotel had two distinct Pool areas, a quiet pool behind the Mala breakfast room , which was always clean and tidy, fresh towels were always available and getting a sun beds was never an issue. A perfect place to relax and let the world drift by . Then there was the main pool complex over the road by Edgewater . Plenty of sun beds and ideally situated close to the beach . Staff on hand at the Edgewater to serve food and Drink, plenty of staff available to provide service There was the main road to cross and security were always there smiling and laughing as they assisted people to cross the road . Will be interested to see if the proposed tunnel project goes ahead in years to come. The Hotel was perfectly situated with easy access to many local beaches , with Lamai, Silver Beach, Coral Cove and Chaweng close by, some were walkable or there was always a Taxi or Songthaew "bus" available For dining there was the Edgewater restaurant , which offered a variety of food and Drinks and again Michael always seemed to be working over there. There was the weekly fire show on the beach which was good to watch and we had a perfect table on the Beach booked for us through View .Many a pleasant evening was spent in Edgewater having a drink and some food and watching the world go by For local food , Lamai was not far away and it was possible to walk down to the Night market and local restaurants to sample local Thai cuisine. Or if one was more ambitious you could always attend Fisherman’s Village , Monday , Wednesday or Friday and take in the Market and eat at one of the Many restaurants there , Gaucho the Argentinian Steak House was superb , there was also the Friday night Fire Boys show at Coco Tams The Hotel staff were only to willing to assist with giving advice on Trips and discussed our needs and assisted with booking trips. They arranged a perfect trip site seeing around the island where we were able to choose the locations which we wanted to see . The driver was given the information and we were given a Map to point to for the driver Being a discovery club 47 Platinum member was a definite plus and we enjoyed the all day soft drinks , Afternoon Tea and evening cocktails and aperitives in the Voyager Lounge . The food and drinks , including Cocktails , Chang Lager and local bites were excellent with a variety of items to try and sample . Special mention here for Sao who looked after us extremely well throughout our stay providing interesting conversation , information and an impeccable service with a smile , a wonderful person who deserves special praise . Sao was ably supported by Focus. Sao also made a special effort to help me celebrate my birthday during our stay and went above and beyond to make the event special -Thank You Sao Would also like to make reference to the Massage service offered through the Hotel , which took place down at Edgewater and was an extremely worthwhile experience. One place I would recommend visiting is the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary -This is a Must . You get to see , feed and Bathe with the Elephants , Make Tie dye, make ands eat local food and all proceeds go to a very worthwhile cause The hotel grounds were extremely well looked after with Grass being Swept of leaves , Mowed , the Trees being regularly cut and Mosquito measures undertaken weekly- Great work by the Gardening Team Finally a Name check for those people who made our stay at the Outrigger unforgettable View ,Michael ,Sao ,Focus ,Ice -Thank you all you were all stars who provided impeccable service over and above expectations Will we return to the Outrigger Ko Samui -you bet and look forward to meeting these lovely people in the future and enjoying the Outrigger Experience again , Until next time

Absolutely loved the Outrigger hotel! I stayed here for a week with my friend, and we are both very fussy with where we stay. The hotel and rooms are stunning and very clean, the staff are so lovely and helpful with anything we needed during our stay. It’s well located, only about a 10 minute walk from all the main shops and restaurants in Lamai (but there’s plenty even closer than that). No complaints from us at all! We even extended our stay for an extra 2 nights :) Thank you so much !

Nice hotel, but split by a very busy road, thankfully there are security people there to assist you, not ideal for young children. The beach is extremely poor with rubbish and plastic bottles only saw one person trying to clean it up. The ladies on reception (with the exception of View) all need to up their game, a smile goes a long way. The room we had didn’t have a socket near a mirror. At breakfast the fruit was covered in flies ( the staff were lovely here) rooms serviced at 4.45 when people want to return to rest.

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Sao, Michael, Focus, Tien, and Tom were lovely. They helped me when I lost my sunglasses and wanted to borrow snorkeling equipment. Sao gave me Aloe Vera from her own garden because I told her I had sunburn. We stayed in the club room which is spacious, fitted with two TVs and has comfortable beds and a large couch. The hotel breakfast has a nice assortment of food from Bircher museli, pain au Chocolat, tropical fruits, omelettes, many more and a coffee machine. The lunch and dinner at the beach club has very large portion sizes and very nice desserts. We also had access to club 47, a sleek air-conditioned lounge with canapes, drinks, and high tea, all included in the room price. The beach itself is about 100 meteres to a small fishing island about the size of a small garden with free weightlifting equipment, a bar, and motorbike rentals, as well as massages. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, espe due to the staff's kind and friendly nature.

Excellent hotel and made all the better by the staff.The bedroom was great with a really comfortable bed and pillows, with a really effective and quiet air conditioning. The downside was the small bathroom, however we managed for the short time we were in there. A good addition would be 2 chairs the the room.The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.We stayed all inclusive and spent our days around the pool at Edgewater, where we had great food, drink and service.Special mention to the staff who looked after us during our stay,Ice,Noom,Michael, Boy,Audi,Mui,Nut,Laura,Tutka, Laura, and Joy the housekeeping. Great hotel room overlooking a neighbouring resorts pool. Good facilities, very clean with pleasant and helpful staff. Restaurant and pool across the road next to the beach served fabulous food and drinks. There is a busy road to cross but they have two members of staff who help stop the traffic, to allow safe crossing. The smaller pool is very quiet and is next to the breakfast room. But once service is finished there are no drinks served. It would have been nice to have had that option. We had great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

beach has lots of seaweed. Not close to main town. Pool is good and so was the food.

Great holiday with excellent food and staff. Excellent facilities with great pools and a nice resort feel. The island is amazing with lots of day trips or just relax in the resort. Special thanks to Micheal, Ice, Nut and Laura who made the stay so much more enjoyable

Our stay included 8 nights at Outrigger Koh Samui. The staff were the friendliest we have ever experienced and overall we were so impressed with the quality and cleanliness of the rooms and the resort overall. Compared with other resorts in the area, we were so happy to have chosen Outrigger. Whilst the rooms and facilities were great and the location was ideal, it was the staff that really made our stay there so memorable, they provided warm welcomes every time and interacted with us on every level. We must provide a special shout out to Michael and his hospitality team in Mala Kitchen (breakfast) and the Edgewater Restaurant (lunch and dinner) as the service was exceptional. They made us feel quite special each time we went, and the range of amazing quality food at Edgewater was beyond expectations. Beers were cold and reasonably priced. There is a selection of pools. Most of them are near the restaurant by the beach, however there is also one up near Mala Kitchen where the rooms are and generally much quieter and less busy than the main ones near the beach. Red busses pass by the front of the resort regularly and provides easy access to Lotus's supermarket, Lamai Beach Road and the Lamai night Markets to the West. All of which I highly recommend. And to the North (towards the airport), and also via red busses there is the Chaweng Night Markets, Central Shopping Centre and a heap of restaurants, bars as well as Muay Thai stadiums, of which we went to the Samui International Muay Thai Stadium and was very impressed with our experience.
