OUTRIGGER Koh Samui Beach Resort

Excellent hotel with faultless service and very helpful reception staff. The amenities were superb and the food was great. My family would definitely stay here again.

We brought a Luxury Escape package for our family we chose the Outrigger Koh Samui, 5 Adults and 4 children ages ranging from 11 - 8 we had a lovely time very relaxing, staff were fantastic always on hand and nothing was to much trouble, check in was quick and easy a good hotel app to let you know what’s on offer and some travel tips, bed was comfortable , room lovely and clean, breakfast was nice something for everyone’s palate, the hotel is French colonial style we liked that it didn’t feel to big like some resorts we have stayed in, the Pool staff were fantastic with the kids unfortunately the slide was only open for a couple of days as it was closed for maintenance but the staff were on hand to entertain the kids with some other pool games and free pop corn which our kids loved, the pool area is located across the road from the hotel which I thought maybe a problem but in fact was not at all there was always staff there to stop traffic so it felt very safe, our package included either free lunch or dinner mostly we chose the lunch which had some great options available in fact Grandad & Nana could only handle the kids menu as the adult menu was very generous, we also had in our package free flow drinks from 4pm until 6pm which included free wine & beer, on the Saturday night there was a bbq, with a fire display and then live entertainment we all got up and danced the kids loved it, other nights we did restaurants outside of the hotel for dinner there is a fantastic restaurant called Kawin’s Kitchen walking distance authentic Thai we were going to return but unfortunately it’s not open on Fridays, other nights we did Fisherman’s Village that’s about 20 min taxi ride, taxis are not as cheap as other places we have stayed like Bali but overall not to bad we just hired the lovely air conditioned van that the Outrigger arranged it was about $45 Australian dollars one way there were 9 of us so only really $5 per head and then we would get a tuk tuk vehicle back which was a bit cheaper, another nice restaurant is The Cliff a bit pricey but worth the experience, also in our package we got a free 90 minute massage for the adults and the kids got a half day pass to Laser tag over all we thought the holiday was fantastic and good value we would certainly stay at the Outrigger again the staff make this hotel they are so helpful nothing was to much trouble, See you next year Koh Samui ❤️

Absolutely not a 5 star resort. Not even 4 stars! I will start with the positives; - the architecture of the hotel is lovely. Singapore raffles style! - the room was spacious. - incredibly comfortable bed and bedding. - garden room was spacious and good relaxing space! - the staff that help with luggage and on the road are so lovely! The negatives: - the layout of the hotel is horrible and just doesn’t feel right with a crap pool by the breakfast restaurant and then the main pool across the main road and separate to the hotel. - the main pool was not relaxing at all. Over crowded and just not relaxing! - the club room was diabolical. Looked nice but absolutely no nice drinks available and then kids ransacked the snacks! - cleaning quality was terrible each day. Bed was made and the floor was wiped down in the bathroom that was it! We asked for our plates from room service to be cleaned away the night we arrived and had eaten. They were still there in the morning and I had to go to reception to ask for them to be cleared. No attention to detail! The sides weren’t wiped down or floors properly cleaned. - breakfast was fine but overcrowded and good quality not very good at all. - the restaurant edgewater food and drink quality is similar to a cheap all inclusive in Europe! Not a fan! - the service just feels like it’s lacking!

We stayed at Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort from June 23 to 27 as two friends traveling together, and the hotel certainly has many positive qualities. Breakfast was great, with a varied selection, and the area around the hotel felt both beautiful and welcoming. We especially appreciated the morning activities like pilates and meditation, which added a nice touch to our stay. The location is also convenient – it’s not far from Lamai town, where the local night market made for a perfect little evening stroll. The pool area down by the beach, Edgewater, was a definite highlight. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The food at Edgewater was also excellent, and the service there felt both professional and friendly. However, what unfortunately brought down our overall experience was the standard of the room. The first room we were given had a strong moldy smell and felt generally unclean. We reported this the same evening, and were asked to wait until after housekeeping the next morning to see if it improved. It did not, so we contacted the reception again. We were then offered a new room which looked cleaner at first – but it had clearly been heavily sprayed with air freshener. When we mentioned this, the staff admitted that “it was something they had to do,” even though they also acknowledged it might not have been the best approach, since we couldn’t smell the real condition of the room. We chose to switch rooms anyway, but after a few hours out, we returned to find the same moldy smell in the new room as well. At that point, we decided to let it go, but it was certainly disappointing. All in all, Outrigger has a lot of strengths – a great location, good facilities, and tasty food – but the rooms are in real need of an upgrade to match the standard expected from a 5-star hotel. We had hoped for a more comfortable and luxurious experience in the room itself, especially considering the price range and the otherwise exclusive image of the resort.

Excellent hotel with wonderful staff. Lovely pool and beach bar/restaurant with some of the best food we have had on holiday. Very nice room, cleaned daily. Good breakfast with varied selections. Reception very helpful with arranging tours and restaurants. Special mention for Kathie, Mooky, Nui, Mico, Tukto, James and the security guys on the main road. Looking forward to our next visit.

I highly recommend the Outrigger Koh Samui. The rooms, facility, pool all impeccably maintained. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful with tips and advice regarding local activities, restaurants..... I especially would like to thank Bee and Pla. They helped to make my Outrigger experience exceptional

This hotel has a very colonial look and does look impressive on first arrival but is does lack some of those little touches that would give it the wow factor, it was the only hotel we stayed at that didn't have water dispensers around the resort or complimentary toiletries already in your room (they can be requested via the app but for the cost of stuff its a bit of a faff). We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a suite on arrival which was very nice, a large bathroom (with a bath), a very comfortable 4 poster bed and a lounge area with French windows. You could go out onto a very small balcony but it wasn't possible to sit there. We only stayed B&B but the breakfast was very good, lots of choice and freshly cooked. We did look at the menu for other meals but it was expensive to what was on offer outside the resort so we never tried it. There are 2 pools , one near the breakfast area which we never saw anyone at and the main pool across the road. The Main Road is crazy with traffic and there are 2 security guards which assist you getting across the zebra crossing (whatever they are paid its nowhere near enough) but don't take your eye off any vehicle as most of them don't even slow down even if someone is on the crossing. The hotel , like many, has a no food or drink from outside the resort policy which most people adhere to but we did see a few families having a picnic from the local supermarket but cried harassment when challenged by the staff (the staff were super friendly so clearly no-one was harassed) The beach isn't bad with the area immediately in front of the pool swept daily but further up the beach its not the case as we often found broken glass in the sand so wear something on your feet. There is a small 7/11 next door which has most things you will need but they were building a bigger one nearby which looked like it would open very soon. There are a few local restaurants within easy walking distance and offer good value for money on meals and drinks. The main area of Lamai beach is a 15 minute stroll with a very good night market for food but beyond that its not worth walking to - lots of 'western' food and pubs centred around a number of sex bars. Be careful of the local taxis as they arent cheap and generally charge whatever they like.

Comfortable room, nice pools - I think they have about 6-7, kids club and game room. Free access to lounge with certain type of rooms stay. We stayed in Lamai suite and entitled for the lounge access. Completely worth it! The only downside is the beach. Not swimmable.
