The Carlyon Bay Hotel and Spa

It was my wife's birthday and our anniversary break and we were treated with friendly smiles and great service.

Staff superb, food excellent.

Limited parking but to be fair not a major issue.

Another memorable relaxing break at the Carlyon Bay Hotel. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for a great break. We stayed for 3 nights and played golf every day on the challenging course with wonderful scenery.

Felt not welcome

Prices of drinks extorionate, hence didnt spend much in the bar £14 double bacardi coke. No privacy at checking in desk, guest standing by myside didnt take the hint when i asked her to move, bath hot tap a trickle of water coming from hot tap, shower hose leaking, bathroom fan making aloud noise, stingy on the tea,coffee supplies in room cost of night stay you think they would be more selection. Being shouted across the carpark have i checked in yet, porter assuming iam not a guest just using the carpark, ceaser salad rip off meant to be chargrilled chicken when only cold cooked chicken no info regarding food menu for room service, staff didnt explain about the restaurants, staff member couldnt tell me what style of food was served in the Taste restaurant told me to look on website for menu as he couldnt find a menu he didnt bother to look for one.

Excellent, service and meals both in the hotel and the golf bar. Course in great condition considering time of year and weather conditions.

The onsite restaurant was excellent, offering high-quality food in a lovely setting. Additionally, the massage treatment was standout—highly professional, relaxing, and a truly pleasant experience from start to finish.

While the food was a highlight, the overall experience did not meet 4-star standards. I visited specifically for the spa, but my appointment was canceled last minute due to staff illness; I expected a resort of this size to have a contingency plan. The spa facilities themselves are dated and poorly maintained: missing tiles in the indoor pool, a 'heated' outdoor pool that was cold and uncleaned, and broken hot stone stations. Furthermore, there were only about 8 sunbeds for the entire indoor area. Our room felt tired and the heating was broken. After two failed repair attempts, we were given a portable radiator, and a room swap wasn't offered until around 11 PM. Finally, it was disappointing to be denied advertised meal deals simply because I booked via Booking.com. The resort looks luxurious in photos, but up close, it is well past its prime.

Stayed for 2 nights and cannot fault the hotel or the staff. Had a lovely room on the second floor. All the staff were really pleasant and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were superb, plenty of choice and lovely local fresh produce. Felt very comfortable here as a solo traveller.

The amazing views and quality of the golf course had been recommended to us, what was surprising was the comfort and friendliness of the hotel and staff, what was totally unexpected was the choice and standard of the dining - thought we would need to go a la carte but the set dinner menu was really memorable for all the right reasons. We will be back.
