The Melanesian Port Vila Hotel

Comfortable bed. Very helpful staff.

Quite tired , especially the bathroom. No view.

Location, large spacious room. On-site restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Excellent AC. Swimming pool. Staff looked after our luggage before check in and after check out.

Shower needs some work. No milk or water provided even though there were tea and coffee making facilities. Late check in 3 p.m. earlier than usual check put 10 a.m.

The staff were fantastic. Super friendly.

Property in need of maintenance and basic tidy up. Peeling paint on rails etc. Staff were pleasant but appeared to be limited in their capacity to assist. Eg when I asked about transport told to go down to road and hail a bus. In my experience other places have phoned for transport. The restaurant, Casa Mia, was extremely good for both dinner and breakfast. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Food was well presented and tasty.

Extremely dissatisfied. We visited when the place was empty and were put in a room where there was construction on the whole side. Initially, no hot water and a broken shower door. A few days later asked for another room and it was great-except yet again, no hot water and yes- broken shower door. In fact, a lot of things were broken and very old and run down. Also customer service was non existent as we were given no information about the hotel or anything about Port Vila. No ATM at the place or Instructions about how to use things. Based on other reviews of dissatisfied people and the standard reply of this place, I seriously doubt anything will ever change.

Staff remembered me from two weeks before and asked after my work.

I wasn't happy in room 101. It was noisy because it opens right off the pool/bar area and the stairs and it is slightly smaller than most of the Orchid rooms so I kept bumping into the bed when moving around. Bits of the room itself needed attention. I reported a blown light at the entryway, but the door to the fridge cabinet was half off as well. The bathroom is dark. The main problem in all the rooms is the lack of powerpoints. There was a powerpoint by the kettle in this room and that was it. I needed a late checkout (12 noon) and they really charge you for this (1500VT per hour). Given that check in is 3pm, this seems pretty steep.

The staff were amazing, and the room was really comfortable. Great beds and air conditioning. There was a range of options for breakfast as well.

The wi-fi was disbursed in daily code vouchers and was weak at times.

The Melanesian is a great option if you want to be close to town and don't mind a short walk to the waterfront. It has a quaint an authentic Italian restaurant "Casa Mia" and a poolside bar for an afternoon sundowner. All of the staff I encountered were super friendly and accommodating.

If you need to be somewhere at a particular time then ensure you allow yourself an additional 20 minutes for a Taxi to arrive.

We stayed at the Melanesian over a week. We liked our rooms over the pool area with a balcony. Rooms were clean, breakfast in the restaurant each morning, great staff.

Bien situé, pas loin de la ville. Personnel souriant. Le bar avec de la musique le soir. Service rapide lorsqu'on commande à dîner.

Piscine passable. L'hôtel à perdu de sa "superbe" d'antan c'est vraiment dommage. Pas d'animation la semaine, ambiance triste. A minima de quoi se divertir comme une table de billard, des jeux de fléchettes, 1 grand écran près du bar, avec diffusion de concerts, matchs etc ...
