The Melanesian Port Vila Hotel

Location. Very easy to move around and easy to access transportation. Grocery in walking distance

My bathroom was full of little roaches that would scurry into the spaces between the grout and behind the wood paneling on the wall whenever I turned on the lights. There were also roaches that would run under the waste basket, I don't know where those went after or if there was a little home under there. The room was only accessible by stairs, no bathroom in the downstairs lobby/ waiting area. Breakfast was particularly poor - poor choices. Runny scrambled eggs, (fried eggs one morning), the same fruit every day, though I did enjoy the papaya and banana, the only variety was grapefruit or no grapefruit. Wifi code changes everyday - really!

Nice and cozy room. Spacious Bathroom. Lighting should be better. The lack of an elevator could be a problem for travelers with heavy luggage. Breakfast was included in the rate, but their offer is minimal. If you want ham or bacon for your egg, you need to pay extra...

Basic accommodation but value for money.

I've stayed at the Melanesian many times so I know what to expect. The rooms are comfortable and the pool is available for those who want that. The breakfast is good and it's a pleasant enough place to stay. It's not cheap and is getting a bit dated now but overall it's fine.

The wifi continues to be quite weak and this is frustrating sometimes.

Staff were super lovely: friendly and helpful. Attached tour desk was limited to expensive experiences, so would recommend reaching further afield to book tours, but the hotel did loan us some snorkelling gear for the days we wanted to self explore. Would recommend.
