"A little slice of paradise ….."

10.0

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at Michelangelo. This is our fourth visit and we yet again have had a wonderful time The food has been exceptional , Soya for Asian fusion far outshines some of the better rated restaurants in the UK. Breakfast and dinner all wonderfully presented, fresh, tasty and varied at every meal The staff - Tzina at breakfast- just wonderful, always smiling always happy Arvin in the David Hall restaurant at dinner - your service was second to none Kim - poolside drinks, he must walk 20,000 steps a day, he kept us in cold water and drinks all day These three staff alone are a credit to the hotel Would I recommend? Yes in a heartbeat, would I come back? Absolutely 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷

"5-star pool, views, staff and evening entertainment. But three-star everything else."

6.0

We have stayed in five star hotels across the world the past 40 years, so have quite a good idea of what to expect. Without a doubt, the gorgeous sparkling infinity pool and views across to Turkey in the distance are world-class spectacular. Every member of staff were brilliant, and we could not find fault with them. Thank you! Twenty years ago the hotel was probably worth five stars, but no longer by modern global standards. The front of the hotel had lovely clean marble floors, but otherwise the outside entrance was under-whelming, with a row of semi-dead trees right outside reception. Most 5 star hotels greet you with stunning fountains and/or lush gardens. Usually someone meets your coach, but here the driver pointed us the way to reception. Check-in was quick and efficient, with a buggy and super lovely chap to drive you to your room. Other hotels offer a glass of bubbly on arrival, or at least a bottle of wine in your room. There was a bowl of fruit in the room on a dinner plate wrapped in plastic. Most five star hotels greet you with fruit, flowers, plus interesting canapes, chocolates, and a hand-written welcome note from the manager. In recent times we have been met with an individualised welcome message on the TV monitor, which also gives you access to the hotels app. We have also been met with exotic towel art and sprinkled rose petals. Hotels that know you are vegan usually have a carton of dairy free milk in the fridge. The welcome was adequate but not great. 3*. We stayed in the Junior Suite with sea views. The balcony was good sized. Ours overlooked the next resort and two pathways. There was a clear partition with the next balcony so not really private. We had some view of the gardens with the sea in the distant. Pleasant enough but not stunning. The room was spacious, airy, clean with good sized king-sized bed and fresh linen. Two overly stuffed man-sized pillows gave me a neckache. Ideally there should have been a choice of pillow grades. The storage was sparce. Just a small stool-type table next to each side of the bed with no storage for handbag, books, phones, iPads, glasses, drinks etc. There was a thin carasole under the TV with not much room for storing things other than small items such as undies. Half the wardrobe was taken up with a coffee station and fridge, leaving very little proper place for 'his' and 'her' storage. Nowhere to hang long dresses. No dressing table mirror!!! That was a first in 40 years. And no comfy chair to it in. The toilet and shower were fresh, clean and modern. However they were part of the bedroom, and were made of frosted glass with clear glass at the bottom. Everytime one person gets up at night to go to the loo the other is woken up by the lights. Some might get turned on by the sight of one's partner's trousers down by their feet when they sit on the loo. And some might not mind being seen having a shower. I found it all very exposing and lacking in privacy. The extra room that was part of the suite consisted of a tiny small couch and TV. The room was clean, but boxy, airless, drab without windows. Not even a picture. Horrid. Goodness knows why the coffee-making facilities were not placed in there as opposed to taking up all the wardrobe space! And now onto the bars. They were pleasant enough, with friendly staff and a good selection of cocktails. But cocktails are served in either cheap beakers, white plastic beakers, or even worse - horrid paper coffee cups??? No no no!!! The hotel needs serious education on the internationally recognised styles of glasses that are used to serve different drinks. These days every type of glass can be found in high-quality crystal clear, non-breakable materials that are safe for pools and the beach. There was great entertainment in the evenings, with fabulous singers and musicians. But no proper stage. The overhead white spotlights in both the main bar and restaurant had all the ambience of a work canteen. This could so easily be rectified with soft lighting, candles and fresh flowers. And now on to the food. I'm sure meat-eaters were satisfied with the vast selection. Although there was great selection of fruit, salads and breads, as vegans we really struggled to find hot vegan options. In this day and age the majority of five star restaurants across the world have a wide selection of properly labelled plant-based dishes. Kos itself is not behind the times. We had a superb vegan meal organised by Dimmitri in his fantastic jeep safari to the village Zia. Also in Kos itself there are young dynamic vegan chefs making fabulous food. Perhaps the hotel staff need some away days to get some fresh ideas! The beach bar was located under a spectacular tree on a black pebble beach. Once upon a time it was probably very hip, but now seems dated and somewhat unloved. As above, it's those little details of art, foliage, flowers and candles that were missing. If you like spending the day on a sunbed in crowded conditions, definitely for you. We prefer long empty white sandy beaches where we can stroll for hours. But just a personal choice. The grounds and garden were generally pleasant and well-maintained by the hard-working staff. But in quite a few areas the ground was bare exposing water pipes. Again, one would expect the gardens to be lush and much loved in a five-star hotel. One final thing - the hornets and wasps. There are lots in September! Mostly they are harmless, however my partner was stung by one that was trapped in the bus returning from Kos. The hotel shop had no first aid supplies such as antihistamine cream and we had to go back into Kos to find a pharmacy. Remember to pack First Aid. In all we had quite a pleasant holiday, and the beautiful infinity pool will reside in my memory forwaver. The Resort overall may perfectly fit the requirements of many visitors. It's not quite for us - but thank you to all the staff who were so friendly and efficient.

"Relaxing holidays"

10.0

I'm back from a one-week holiday at the Michelangelo resort, and it was great. The resort is located on a hill with beautiful views. We had a nice room with a balcony, seeing the blue sea all around. If you are looking for relaxing holidays, this is the place. Food is great, and the staff is very pleasant. The infinity pool is stunning; we spent most of the time there. There is a small beach down the hill, so be prepared for a little workout walking back up, but it's a good opportunity to stretch your legs after all the lazy sunbathing. I can highly recommend this hotel.

"I wanted to love it - but…"

8.0

We just came back from Michelangelo yesterday, staying on an all-inclusive board. Let me start with the positives: the location of the hotel and the view from the pool are absolutely magnificent – truly stunning. The infinity pool is beautiful – large, spacious, and clean (although the water was a bit cold). The beach in front of the hotel, however, is very small and not great-looking. We only spent about 10 minutes there, even though we usually love beaches. Thankfully, the infinity pool made up for it, so it was fine in the end. The food was okay, and the rooms were nice – nothing spectacular, but they served their purpose. Our room, however, was extremely noisy, and we could clearly hear the strong wind at every single night. Overall, it’s a nice hotel, though I have to point out a few things that felt off – for example, only two 500ml bottles of water in the minibar (in a supposed 5-star hotel) seems very limited… Now, the biggest downside: the bar staff. The bartenders and waiters/waitresses at both the pool bar and the main bar were, unfortunately, some of the grumpiest and least welcoming staff I’ve ever met. Their expressions made us feel like we were bothering them just by ordering a drink. Yesterday, we were simply trying to ask for some water and were completely ignored… Every time I went to get a drink, I felt uncomfortable – like I was doing something wrong for asking for what was included in the package. On the other hand, I want to give full credit to the cleaning staff, the girls at the reception, and the gentleman at the restaurant (who took note of room numbers) they were consistently polite, friendly, and understood what customer service is about. One more point: despite being all-inclusive, many drinks weren’t actually included, and for example you could only get drinks at the pool bar until 5.45pm. After that, you had to pay – even though the bar stayed open. That really should be communicated more clearly to guests. Overall, it was a nice holiday, but I have to be honest: the bar staff seriously let the experience down!! In my view, that’s a huge disadvantage for the hotel. A bit of friendliness and a simple smile would’ve made a world of difference. Some of us still value kindness and politeness, being nice doesn’t cost a thing, and it really does matter!

"Great Hotel Experience,Outstanding Staff, Some Room for Improvement"

8.0

We had a really enjoyable stay at Michelangelo Resort & Spa in Kos. The pool area is stunning, the staff are excellent, and the all-inclusive benefits were great. The a-la-carte restaurants were great - in particular the Asian, which had fresh, top standard food. Overall, it’s a very nice hotel. That said, while our room itself was lovely, we did notice quite a lot of noise from outside – particularly early in the mornings (anytime from 7am) with loud bangs that we can only assume were from cleaners dropping bin bags from higher floors or doors slamming. The evening entertainment was also difficult to access as it was hard to find a seat after around 7:30. The WiFi was also quite weak, and due to the resort’s proximity to Turkey, mobile data plans don’t really work – not a huge issue as you’re on holiday, but definitely something to be aware of. We agree with other reviews that, while it’s a wonderful place, it doesn’t quite live up to a 5-star standard. However, the staff really made our stay, especially Dimitri at the main bar, who was outstanding.

"Disappointing experience"

6.0

Absolutely stunning location. The infinity pool was beautiful. As others have commented was difficult to get a sunbed even at 7.30. People leaving towels and not arriving back until mid morning. Sunbeds were very close together and as the day went on and people moved their beds round it was difficult to walk to the bar! The Mediterraneo restaurant as part of a la carte was lovely food and was great service. Lunchtime food was the same every day for AI guests and not of particularly good standard. (A lot of hornets here and floors and tables were dirty) Soya Asian restaurant again as part of AI was extremely good and staff were very friendly. Main restaurant overall was good. Sometimes food was tepid and not always a great variety. Staff were great. Suzanne was a great waitress. Very friendly and welcoming. Drinks were ok. Cutlery, Plates and glasses not always clean. Bar staff. Dimitri in main bar was great. Always friendly and happy. Cocktails good variety and Alfa beer served which was good. Evening entertainment. Only attended 2 evenings. Duo reggae Remarc were brilliant. DJ not our idea of evening entertainment. However if you arent in the bar at around 7.30 you don't get a seat. There was no animation team which we expected. There was aqua aerobics once a day in the infinity pool and that's basically it! The room was OK. Beds comfortable but with the shower and toilet with glass screens was not private. We booked a sea view which we got but there were other apartments in front of us. I have discovered that if you want full sea view you need to book a Premium sea view room. I didn't go to the beach due to the amount of steps. There are a lot of steps and slopes in this hotel and for me having had knee replacements was very taxing. We spent the last three days at the chill pool close to the restaurant which had fewer steps to navigate from our room. The tiles were dirty here and we're not cleaned in those 3 days that we were there. The cleanliness of our room was also not great. When we arrived there was an old banana skin between our beds as well as used ear plugs. The floors when cleaned (never seemed clean tho) smelled of dirtiness The mini bar contained 2 bottles of water when we arrived only. As a 5 star hotel I would expect water every day as well as soft drinks and beer. Rubbish left outside rooms as well as glasses not cleared away for few days. Dirty cushions/stained in bars and by pool (used in day by swimmers/sunbathers ) and the same cushions in the evenings - not hygienic. Overall cleanliness an issue all round the hotel. Clearing of cups/glasses were not cleared away regularly and ashtrays not always available or emptied. This hotel is lacking a 5 star rating and we will not be returning.

"A lovely family holiday"

8.0

This was a lovely hotel, the infinity pool was lovely however the water could be a little cold. Staff were incredibly friendly especially the lovely young lady behind the bar. They were great with our children. We were a large group of 13, including my elderly mother, and staff were very accommodating Entertainment ends at 10pm which was fine for us, however for some people that is a little early. The food was lovely, certainly the best I have had at an all inclusive resort. At breakfast the smoothies and crepes were a great touch. One negative is where I had ordered lunch for an excursion and this wasn't provided. However these things happen sometimes

"Long weekend birthday treat"

10.0

I was looking for a long weekend hotel to relax and be pampered. This did not disappoint. The food in the buffet restaurant was varied, plentiful and always tasty. Unfortunately, as a stay of less than a week meant you couldn't use the A La Carte, but it wasn't a problem due to the themed evenings at the buffet. Having upgraded to AI the drinks flowed and were always international brands....... And you can't knock the cocktails either! The only downside we're the number of steps from the beach to the restaurant. If you have mobility issues, be aware, but the benefit were the views across the sea.

Fantastic large pool, (it is difficult to find an umbrella) but you will definitely find one at the second pool or at the beach. The evening buffet is excellent with many choices and a wonderful terrace. Try the local wine. The rooms are large and clean but the glass in the toilet is not convenient. Don't forget the spa I recommend it.

My son should only eat gluten-free foods. Sou Chef was always available to help us (thank you Chef and sorry for the inconvenience). we faced some problems in our stay, entrance lock-a/c, but they were always there to help. Dear Kostas thank you for always listening to me. I will be back at the end of September as promised
