Skala Hotel

Beautiful hotel in the centre on skala, kind staff and great breakfast

Good location close to port. Toilet didn't function properly. Pool was a weird, dirty color, so not usable, hut a red rain had occurred a day or two before. Nice breakfast each morning. Would return.

Great hotel for great price. Theo, the owner,responded to several emails with useful advice. The front desk staff,Penelope and Dimitri are absolutely the best - helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.

Very clean, comfortable, friendly, well located near shops, restaurants, music, historical sites and beaches. Wi- fi, pool, bar , breakfast, and conference facilities/ theater all at a very low price.

The Skala Hotel is a short walk from the ferry port on Patmos. The building is older, but full of charm and one is struck by the spaciousness compared with many other European Hotels. The rooms are white-walled with wooden furniture and turquoise drapes and spreads, with updated bathrooms and rooms have a balcony and are equipped with a minibar. The staff was very kind. I was greeted by a very friendly young lady and very soon afterwards, the hotel manager came out and introduced himself with a handshake. Both were extremely polite. The beds were comfortable, especially after climbing the mountain up to the Chora Monastery. My balcony overlooked the courtyard with views to the harbour and up the mountain to Chora. All in all, my only regret is that I did not have the time to stay more than one night. In the event that I return to Patmos, I will definitely book with the Skala Hotel.

You get off the ferry and walk for about two minutes and there it is, the Skala Hotel which you enter via an archway of pink flowers hanging above you head. I love this private entrance which means you are right in the heart of Skala on the main road with shops just behind and yet, you are 25 metres or so behind it all which massively reduced the street noise. It means you are in a calm environment yet not secluded from where you enjoy going to, the beach, the restaurants, the shops, the sea...The reception service was very efficient and had responded very efficiently and professionally to a private request. As it was our Wedding Anniversary and they knew about this, we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and two glasses with the hotel's compliments. The bathrooms have been modernised very recently and although the hotel has clearly been around for a long while, one feels secure and calm yet pampered at the same time. The cleaning staff and bar man too were very accommodating, the bar man giving us a free coctail on the last day as he wasn't able to find my first request which included coconut milk, so he brought me an even more delicious one over to my lounger. The pool is beautifully positioned and has salt water which personally I like very much. You can sit in the pool whilst having a drink at the bar and the water is most pleasant to swim in. Shame there is not swimming after 8.00 though but then apparantly this is common elsewhere.

From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us as if we were family. Anything we needed, and anytime we needed it they were available. We needed a car, and the owner called about 10 or 11 different places just to try to find one for us in the busiest time of year. We wanted information, they told us everything we could have ever dreamed of wanting to know about the island - even the bartender Dimitris gave us a few hidden tips about the island over a drink. Breakfast was fresh and abundant every morning and they were still bringing new food even up to the moment that breakfast was supposed to be over (which any frequent traveler will know is a big thing!). It's very near the port (about a 5 minute walk, maybe not even), which was a massive help after a day of planes, taxis and ferries. We can not recommend this place enough. When we return we will definitely be staying here.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I could walk to the hotel from the ferry, and all the shops and stores were a two minute walk. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. The room was comfortable and clean. After I spent the morning climbing up to the Monastery of St. John (from the bus stop) and then walking down to the Cave of the Apocalypse, my bad knees were aching badly. I was going to walk to the beach and soak in the sea, but the pool was right there and I did not want to walk any farther. The pool water seemed to be saltier than the sea, and it was warm. The extra saltiness allowed me to float and soak my knees. It was wonderful. My camera had died, and I needed a new one. The staff sent me to the electronics store with a personal recommendation from the hotel to take care of me. They did. So, I was very appreciative of their help.

We were 6 in our group. Tired and weary from the long boat trip from turkey via bodrum to kos to Patmos. The hotel's proximity to the port is very good and we arrived at 1 am. We showered and went to sleep. Clean hotel. Good breakfast spread nothing fancy. Very helpful staff.

A really great little hotel on the waterfront in Patmos. Walking distance from the ferry and in the middle of the cafe area on the waterfront. Really close to a swimming beach and the shops.
