Grand Royal Hotel

The hotel was very goog, very clean, the breakfast was also good. The only problem is that is not well located, there is not much to do around and the Metro station is 15 minute walk.

I used to like this hotel (been here 4 times now) but that was then and this is now... I'll never will stay here again... Nothing comes for free in this hotel... Don't be fooled, this isn't a 5 star hotel, merely 4 stars and they don't offer any of the facilities for free... Fitness, prepare your money, want to play a bit of table-tennis? 50 Yuan for an hour!! As far as I remember, swimming is included but this time it was too cold to give the pool a try. The breakfast is really very poor. Hardly any choice if you like to have a continental breakfast. Strawberry jam, butter, toast and eggs… That’s it… Bottom line, I should have know better... When the Canton Fair is on, this place transforms into a 4+ star hotel with a far better (richer) breakfast buffet and other facilities but the price is 3 times higher... So when you are going to the Canton Fair this hotel is fine, only 10 minutes from the exhibition grounds but you are nowhere near the city center! A taxi will take you to the center in 20-30 minutes for approximately 30-40 Yuan. The Grand Royal has lost its grandness… Pity…

My business partner and I were in Guangzhou for the fair. Both our first trip ever in China. We considered several hotels and ended up with Grand Royal Hotel; bu default. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. Right from the lobby, we were shocked by the grand modern decor. Definitely a five star rating. The rooms are beautiful and modern and clean. The pictures on TripAdvisor and Booking.com didnt do justice to the hotel. And the staff were very courteous and accomodating with their minimum knowledge of the English language. They were great. The TV stations had adequate number of English channels to occupy your time. We had a wonderful stay for 8 days and will definitely stay here whenever we are in town again. I would suggest to the hotel management to engage the services of a professional photographer, who's pictures they sure update their old ones online with. People need to be aware of this hotel's beauty.

Good hotel, good location for canton fair , good breakfast , only bit away from main areas such as shopping and entertainment

Slow check in and check out. Hotel staffs are not very polite.

Stayed here for a total of 19 nights 12 nights at first then went away and came back for another 7. When i came back the second time i was early and they expected me to pay for a full night for coming 5 hours early and would offer no discount! very dissapointed with the manager! No flexibility considering I stayed for a long time! Spent 5 hours in the lobby fighting mosquitoes! Waiting to check in. I will not come back to this hotel. Also make sure you check you bill at the end of your stay they tried to charge me extra!

Very good hotel, clean, with good staff who speak english and very great restaurant! Very close from the Shanghai train station and metro line but on the other hand a bit far away from the bund and other Shanghai attraction.

Clean and efficient hotel, probably the best Ive stayed in when visting Guanzhou

Very good Hotel, just paid 10 RMB to the Subway or 27 RMB to Pazhou Exhibition Center. Breakfast is very complete with Wester Food and good service. Good bed, good internet and service... We recommend this hotel for businessmen.
