Grand Royal Hotel

This hotel is very comfortable and was relatively well priced but has some issues: 1. it is way out from city center although accessible by metro (15 minute walk through apartment building neighborhood to closest metro stop - best go to next closest station and take cab 2. food is way overpriced 3. very limited English speaking staff although extremely nice.

the overall of the hotel is satisfactory, but the most important problem is the location .you have to spent approximately 45 mins from the hotel to go to the railway station

Hotel is far from Metro station & far from shopping area.

The hotel is really nice and comfortable, but it is a long way from the centre- about 30 kilometres. The staff speak reasonable English and are very hospitable. If you want a western breakfast it can be hit and miss.

convenient to reach by airport express public bus every 45 minuntes. friendly and helful staff. good fitness room and pool. sauna was not very clean and not warm enough but works. good room service, good breakfast. spacy room with a kettle and comlimentary tea and coffee and fruits on arrival., free internet, although slow. Travel agency at lobby floor was very helpful to recommend city tour and advices.

The hotel is only minutes away from the Pazhou Complex (2011 Fair location) with bus shuttle service provided by the hotel. Very helpful staff who would go out of their way to assist you. Clean and comfortable room. Would not hesitate to go back to Grand Royal Hotel.

This hotel is a good value. The rooms are nice, beds are comfortable.

I stayed at the Grand Hotel during the 109th Canton Fair. For starters, the hotel is located in downtown Guangzhou, which is pretty far from attractions and good eateries. When I arrived in Guangzhou from Hong, via the intercity train, it took me over an hour to find a cab driver who actually knew where the hotel was located (The name and address of the hotel was written in Cantonese). Upon my arrival to the hotel, I checked into the hotel. The receptionist was unable to communicate with me because she did not understand nor could she speak good English, which was strange because there were registration girls from the Canton Fair on the fourth floor, they spoke great English. I asked them how did they learn, they replied in an almost American accent "A lot of people here in Guangzhou speak English". So why would the hotel hire receptionist that spoke poor English??? After checking in, I took the elevated to my room which was located on the 16th floor. When I reached the 16th floor, I was greeted by a woman running and screaming pass the elevator and down the darkened hall. I wasn't sure what was up with that. I continued to my room and to my surprise, the room did not have any windows!? I was shocked. The room was pretty clean but the bathroom vanity had mold buildup on it. The lighting in the room was very dim, even with all the lights on. There was a fly trapped inside of the coffee mug, which was turned upside down. The air conditioner was very noisy, I had to turn it off in order to get some rest. The only thing that I liked about the hotel was the free shuttle to the Canton Fair. I will not stay here again nor would I recommend anyone staying here.
