Poor lighting on the pathway leading up to the front door, and stones are not even, so could be a hazard.

Beautiful, comfortable home with a feeling of nostalgia. Considerate hosts. Large yard with gardens, dog friendly.

Perfect place to stay. Lovely proprietor. Made to feel welcome. Spacious room with bath. Dog friendly. Spacious yards. Hot coffee and a baked treat each morning. Convenient to downtown Black Mountain. Loved the charm of the place.

The place is very clean and beautifully restored.

There is no breakfast. When I made my booking, the Black Mountain Inn was listed as a Bed and Breakfast. My husband and I are seniors. The entrance to the hotel and the (20) stairs to the guest rooms are inconvenient. The walkway to the front door is gravel and there are concrete stairs leading to the front door. No ramp for suitcases, luggage has to be carried. The shower in our room was downright dangerous to climb into (claw foot tub, slippery surface without non-skid mat). There are no amenities,(bring your own shampoo/conditioner/lotion). Small soap bars and a blow dryer are provided. While the mattress is comfortable, the pillows were uncomfortably firm and thin. No refrigerators in room, no TV. Since there is no breakfast, you can't buy anything ahead of time and keep it cool. And there are lovely small restaurants in town. You can't really sit in the room, there was only one chair. TV was less of an issue, we were out exploring the area most of the day.

Breakfast was not provided, although the Booking.com listing clearly states that a full breakfast is provided. Apparently, the innkeeper has tried to correct this, but Booking.com continues to provide wrong information. They claim that the confirmation I received says "no meal plan" but I never received that and in any case, that would have come AFTER my non-refundable payment was made. June was very nice about this an upgraded us to a nicer room to make up for it. At this point, my argument is with Booking.com.

Booking.com says this property provides a full breakfast but it does not. I have been in contact with Booking.com's "customer service" but they have so far declined to make this right or even to correct the listing. I am unlikely to ever use Booking.com again and would recommend that others avoid it as well. There are other places to make bookings that stand behind their promises.

This is NOT a bed and breakfast. We received coffee and dated fruit on a table in the morning. With no outdoor lighting, it was difficult to walk to the car. The top floor suite had an unusual door covering stairs that did not enable you to lock it when you left the room leaving the room exposed. Shower was unusable. Space heater was so loud that we had to turn it off during a 30 degree night. We basically rented a bed for the night which was actually comfortable.
