Washington Square Inn

Location and design. Easy checkin/out.

They were tearing up the floor in room Nextdoor at 8:45 Saturday morning. However ET it did not last too long.

Neighborhood is nice, a lot of restaurants and commerce.

We were hearing a couple next door having sex, and it was a pretty long time. The wall is too thin, so not just the sound but the bed creaking noise was heard in our room, too. It was pretty disturbing.

Location Charming

I hated the app you had to download to enter rooms. Mine continually produced errors and I could not enter room. No staff at location. After resetting app three or four times would it function predictably

This inn was an absolute gem and the perfect home base for exploring San Francisco. The location could not be better—right by Washington Square in the heart of North Beach/Little Italy. Being so close to the tall, beautifully lit church made it incredibly easy to find my way back at night, which I really appreciated. You’re surrounded by fantastic restaurants and bars, just two blocks from the cable car, and within easy walking distance of Chinatown and even Pier 39 if you enjoy a longer stroll. It felt central without being chaotic. The room itself was very comfortable, with a surprisingly spacious shower (a big win after long days of walking). Everything felt clean and well cared for. Coffee available each morning was a lovely touch and a great way to start the day.

The only minor downside was that luggage storage was not locked and required leaving bags in the lobby. That said, the lobby itself is locked and only accessible to guests, and we had no issues at all with our luggage. Self check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free. The room was cleaned daily, and overall we were very happy with our stay.

The location in North Beach is perfect.

Contactless check in so you cannot ask questions, no one answers the phone most of the time, dirty and grimy, stains on the carpet, weird smell, dirty curtains, worse than advertised, used tissues

Nice place.

No hot water for shower. Bed mattress too small for bed frame. It hurts foot when you kick leg of bed frame and also shin. Mattress should fit frame size.

Great location, small hotel, quiet, friendly housekeeping staff.

Some rooms have bathrooms that are separate (across the corridor) from their bedrooms. There is no front desk. You have to download an app and use your phone to unlock your door. The app didn't work reliably so it often takes several tries to open the door. The carpets were a little stained in my room. It seemed like maybe there was going to be breakfast included, but that wasn't the case.
