The staff were exceptionally efficient, welcoming and helpful. I was given information on the local walks and was helped to order a taxi when I left. The service from all staff was excellent. Food was good quality and the flapjacks in the room were delicious. The spa was also very good. Clean, good sized rooms. This is such a good place to stay if you are interested in walking on Dartmoor.

A lovely evening away. Beautiful place and was very clean and friendly. We really enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. The spa facilities were lovely and we will definitely visit again.

2 night stay in the middle of August. Ample parking, smooth check in process, up one floor in a small lift to our rather large room. Lovely decor and the fairly usual accompaniments found within the bathroom made for a welcoming experience. The bed was on the softer side for my liking but still comfortable to sleep on. The downside to the room was the lack of air conditioning. Overall a good room to pick. The grounds the hotel is situated are beautiful, during the sunny days we stayed there the building shone in all its glory with all staff members warm and welcoming. We visited the spa midway through our stay, we can’t comment on the treatments as we didn’t opt to have any this time round, the pool area was clean and well maintained. Now time for the showstopper. The in house dining experience at this establishment is nothing short of spectacular. Please make sure you plan and book at least one meal here, starting off in a lounge area just off of the main reception you’re given your menus, asked if you’d like some drinks and a small bowl of nibbles. It’s advisable to arrive in the lounge a little bit before the time you booked your table to allow you to make the most of the experience. Once ordered, you’re then escorted through to the dining room, which is well laid out and has an extraordinary view. Once at the table, enjoy the truly exquisite food! I apologise for not being able to single out individual members of staff, the staff we interacted with were incredible!

Booked a night for our 20th anniversary. We are local (Plymouth) and wanted to feel like we got away without the travel time. We were not disappointed- beautiful grounds, relaxing well equipped (and spotless) spa followed by one of the best meals we have ever had in the restaurant all whilst overlooking Hay Torr and watching the local wildlife. Highly recommend - really special trip made exceptional by friendly and professional staff.

Le calme, la fluidité et le service sont excellents. Un bon lit, une belle chambre single avec une bonne salle de bain. J’ai adoré le jardin, le spa et la piscine, le jacuzzi exceptionnel et le massage relaxant sublime. Les repas gluten free sont pleins de bons aliments de la région et préparer dans la joie, servit avec implacabilité. Le grand parking. Un vrai moment de repos et de recharger mes forces

Beautiful country hotel with a fabulous spa.

A delightful stay - close to Haytor. The restaurant is stunning - had a wonderful pork belly starter, duck main and cheese board dessert. My wife had sea food. All delicioius. The staff are super helpful and friendly. Would recommend.

We've stayed at Islington with our four children and their children for fouryears now and we have already booked for 2026. The chef manages to cope with different food intolerances and vegans. The grandchildren love the pool and the grounds. It's a great place for a family get-together.
