Ilsington Country House Hotel & Spa

We have been visiting The Ilsington Country House Hotel and Spa for many years now and love taking friends there. This was our second stay in 2025 and it never disappoints. Every detail is so well thought through with so many 'extra' little touches. Each of the locally employed staff members from reception to chambermaid is welcoming and courteous, the roms well appointed with loads of storage, bottled water, tea and coffee, hot chocolate and freshly made flapjacks replenished every day, spotlessly clean bahthrooms with a thoughtful motion sensor light adding to safety at night. The food - well! At breakfast a wide variety of options with hot choices prepared to order and evening meals a delight with an emphasis on quality and flavour rather than quantity. Then there is the spa - we love the pool, the hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room feely available for those booking directly with the hotel, and discounted spa treatments available for hotel guests. If it's wet or cold and you don;t feel like venturing out the communal lounge areas are comfortable and cosy with warm fires and lots of books and games on hand. One word of warning when you venture out - you may want to work out your routes around Devon in advance rather than relying solely on yor satnav. The hotel is beautifully located on the edge of dartmoor but surrounding lanes are very narrow and can be a little hairy at times if you aren't used to driving on them. A stunning hotel and spa in a beautiful setting, amazing food and great service from all the staff,will definitely be returning and highly recommend, wish we found it sooner.

We can’t thank the team enough for taking my husband and me in when The Moorland Hotel failed to book us a pet-friendly room. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. The service was brilliant — every member of staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We were especially grateful that a table was set up for us in the bar so we could have our dog with us. Such a simple gesture made a huge difference and showed how thoughtful and accommodating the team is. Our stay was for my husband’s birthday, and thanks to your kindness and attention to detail, it turned out to be a truly lovely and memorable night away.

Easy to find hotel a short distance from main road. Well appointed comfortable hotel in a beautiful setting on Dartmoor. Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed on DBB rate. Very good value. Food excellent, well presented and tasty. Would recommend this hotel and plan to visit again in the future.
