"Poor experience"

4.0

I requested a room no higher then the 3rd floor as my sister didn’t like heights, when I got too the hotel they said sorry the 3rd floor is out of action so they put us on the 17th floor not happy about that. The room had dirty marks on the walls and wardrobe and black marks in the bath. Will not stay here again

"Unfriendly Reception Team with Poor Breakfast"

4.0

When we walked in the receptionist looked up as if we were disturbing him. He couldn't find our booking (they had just had a systems update) and instead of maybe suggesting a coffee or even taking a seat (I walk with the aid of a stick) we had to stand their for 40 minutes whilst he faffed about trying to ring someone. Eventually we go booked in: he upgraded us to an executive room which apart from having a larger bed was basic. Two teabags and two milks in the tray. A shower over a bath which you had to climb into and a toilet that didn't flush properly. We had breakfast included in our booking but were challenged on arrival as the system hadn't tied up. Waiter at breakfast was charming and a lovely guy but the breakfast was abysmal. There was no buffet bar as there were too few people staying so I thought great a cooked to order meal. How wrong was I. I ordered a full English with a fried egg and received bacon, two fried eggs, scramble eggs (which I hate) and mushrooms so had to ask for sausage and beans. Just as we were finishing ours the table next to us asked for scrambled eggs with their full English (which came with everything this time apart from scrambled eggs!) and then another table didn't get there's at all. Wouldn't have been so bad but the food was not hot, and had obviously just been laying around in the kitchen. We were going to the Utilita venue so chose this hotel as it was so close. I would advise you to avoid it at all costs

"Below par hotel"

6.0

A group of friends and I stayed here for a couple of nights over a weekend. The hotel is situated well in central Cardiff, but the standard I would expect for a luxury brand fell below expectations. The room was basic and unattractive and the overnight maid service left us with uncleaned cups, no tea bags were replaced nor were the bins emptied. The breakfast was really good, but the hotel needs some improvement.

"Overpriced but convenient"

6.0

Went to see Bryan Adams at the Utilita Arena. Hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the castle and is on a main road , it's literally 2 minutes from the arena (you can see it from the hotel). The staff are friendly, and the vibe is pretty chilled out. We had a accessible room which is the first of my concerns. Firstly, the alarms are so close to the bed that if you roll over you set them off. There is no shower curtain and the shower drain is in the middle of the room so the floor gets flooded (we resorted to putting towels in the doorway to stop the living area flooding too.), and the floor doesn't dry. Perfect for someone who's bad on their feet. You're so on the 12th floor, so if the fire alarms go off you have 12 floors to negotiate as lifts are a no no in a fire! Whilst we're on the subject of lifts. They clunk and clang like they're on their last legs. The air con is so loud that you can't sleep with it on, the doors can't be closed unless you slam them and if someone flushes a toilet the whole floor hears. Parking is exorbitant (£17 a day), you would think paying £400 for 3 nights would entitled you to free parking. Breakfast is £17.50 a head and not really worth it. The best thing about the whole stay was falling out of the concert and in to the hotel

"Not the best experience"

2.0

Awful experience, would not be returning. On arrival we were not advised we had been given a accessible room, when we asked to change we got mumbled at that they were full! … adjoining door could hear couple in the next room talking clearly. Our tv turned itself off every ten minutes , toilet seat was broken, bathroom grubby and smelt of stagnant water , water piped and aircon rattling at 5am waking us up . No iron or ironing board and key card had to be reactivated more than once ! All in all not a pleasant stay

"Perfect location and very good breakfast"

8.0

6 of us stayed here for one night and all thought it was well worth the money. Great location, friendly staff and a very good breakfast. Rooms were decent with very large and comfy bed and nice bathroom. Rooms were a little bit dated but fine. Would use again

"Terrible Check In"

2.0

Appalling service. Arrived at the hotel, they couldn’t find our reservation despite me having the reservation number. The receptionist mumbled something and then walked off. A man then appeared and just logged on with no explanation. He couldn’t find it either, asked me if I’d booked it under another name and just got ruder and ruder. Apparently they were having IT problems. I appreciate everyone has those occasionally but an explanation and apology would have been the professional way of dealing with the situation rather than silence and rudeness. One staff member told us the owner had cancelled the funding and when we were leaving they were booking people in and out by paper and pen. I’d allow extra time when booking in.

"Do better RADISSON!!"

4.0

Some good, some very not!! Good points - 1. We stayed in Room 1105 which was a clean, comfortable accessible room. 2. Very quiet overnight. 3. Bed was very comfortable but pillows could do with renewing. Moderate points - 1. We parked in the hotel car park (£25/24 hours 😳) I am a wheelchair user & there are steps down from the car park to the hotel. There is a hotel operated wheelchair lift there but we could see no way of calling for assistance so had to press the emergency button to get help! 2. The check in system needs improving. We arrived around 14.40 but were not allowed to check in until 15.00, even people arriving at 14.55 but were turned away. So at 3pm there was a very long queue waiting to check in! 3. I was told at check in that we had breakfast included but when I checked my booking it said ‘Room Only’. I can’t help but wonder if this was said to get people to go into the restaurant and then find out later that their credit card had been billed?! Bad points - 1. In our room there was a connecting door to the room next door. Granted there was no handle on the other side of the door but it would only have taken a credit card for the people next door to access our room! I understand the need for connecting doors but as two females staying in the room we felt quite vulnerable. There needs to be a separate lock on this door. 2. We checked in, got our key card and headed up to floor 11. 2 other women also got off on the same floor - and then headed to open OUR room!! Once they realised it was an accessible room they accepted that it was our room so they had to go back to reception. Talking to other groups later, it appeared to be a regular occurrence that evening. One person actually went to ‘their’ room to find a man’s clothes & toiletries in the bathroom - it was already being used! As you can imagine it made us feel VERY unsafe, not wanting to leave anything in the room and worried that someone might come into the room overnight! Unfortunately although we used the security chain on the door, it would have taken a firm push to break it off as the screws were already very loose!! We won’t be going back!
