Staybridge Suites - Kansas City-Independence by IHG

About the only good thing about this place was the location. The first employee we came in contact with was kind but after that everything was a nightmare.

Other than the first employee everyone else was rude. The initial room we were put into was not the room we had booked so we had to go down and ask for the room we booked. Dirty utensils in the kitchen area and the bathtub was broken and cheaply "fixed". No ice machine and when we asked where to get ice they rudely told us that we were supposed to turn on the ice machine in the freezer when we got in the room. Paid for a king size suite and ended up getting stuck in a queen size suite with no credit given back.

The place is aging; which is fine, you expect some things to be wrong. We stayed two nights, and had put items in the corner by a utility closet. The AC condensation from that closed door had apparently leaked all weekend, soaking my toddlers bed, pillow and other items in the process. Even produced a SLUG in that area it was so damp. A SLUG. DISGUSTING. Their offer was some points that aren't even worth half a night stay in this junk hole. Would never stay again... BARF

Tried checking in 45 min early, guy at the desk said the room wasn’t available, he didn’t ask my name or check anything, just said come back later. The pool was closed all day until 8 pm for cleaning. Neither of the phones in the room worked to call out. Breakfast was dismal and sad. Bathroom fan that was connected to the light had a loud squeaking noise for the first 60 seconds.

Breakfast was good. Location was close to the ballpark and that is why we were in town.

Everything was very nice. No complaints.

The air conditioning was out the entire stay. No one came to work on it. The maintenance supervisor has nothing to say. I also did not receive housekeeping on one day so went looking for toilet paper and was told there is no toilet paper in the building so I was given 2 boxes of Kleenex. The lady at the desk at night was helpful but I feel sorry for her as she seems to get stuck with all the complaints and issues that are not resolved during the day. We needed up leaving at 3 in the morning because the room was so hot we couldn’t get comfortable.

Other than housekeeping I would say it was a five-star. Our understanding is they would do a daily light cleaning touch up what have you and we went days without any housekeeping so we went and bought the stuff to take care of it ourselves. Other than that it was absolutely awesome staying there love the room staff at the front desk was amazing the woman who make sure we had our breakfast every morning was stellar she did a great job.

The hotel is fine and the people are friendly. It looked like they were remodeling a roof leak.

The toilet wasn't flushing and it took most of the day for anyone to even come fix it. They wouldnt bring us up more blankets. There was no blankets in the room for the sofa bed. There was only 2 towels in the room for 3 guests. The toilet paper was almost empty. The front desk clerks were rude.
