"Incredible ambience - great location"

10.0

We wanted a non-mega hotel with personality and this delivered! Many quaint outdoor sitting areas and beautiful furnishings, including a self playing Steinway.

"My favorite hotel ever"

10.0

You could not ask for a more interesting and original place to stay. I want to come back to San Juan just to be in this hotel again. It is chock full of unique art and sculpture that the owner and her family made and every corner is a surprise room full of ornate and interesting things. The staff is super friendly, especially Christopher. I couldn't love this hotel more! It is an old building, and so it isn't generic hotel perfect, and it shouldn't be. There are lots of stairs, so it's not accessible for people with disabilities or trouble getting around, but if that isn't a problem for you, then climb the stairs to the rooftop deck and feel the breeze from the ocean and gaze at the amazing view. What a place- we felt lucky to explore it!

"Great Hotel"

The decor and artistic ambiance is amazing, providing guests with the old Spanish experience. You'll want to spend an afternoon just walking around and taking artsy pictures to post on Instagram or whatever your favorite social media site is.

"Very unusual hotel, wonderful location."

10.0

The hotel is nice and close to old San Juan, and it is conveniently located on the trolley bus route. The beds were super comfortable. The only drawback for me, personally, was that I have a bit of a disability so all the stairs and different levels were a bit hard for me, though the staff very kindly put me in a room closer to the front desk when I stayed the second time. It was like staying in an art gallery!

"Interesting artsy hotel."

8.0

Stayed one night after a cruise with two kids (7 and 9) in the family suite. Very interesting hotel with art everywhere. Kids loved the big white bird on a perch that greets you with an 'hola' at the front desk. The old (in a good way) building has many nooks for sitting and conversation. We missed happy hour where they have a pianist playing classical music unfortunately. Pool is small , but again, interesting. Good for socializing. Location is great for exploring the old city, but our room was across the narrow street from a bar and the music could get loud with the balcony doors open. I would think this would be a great option for couples.

"Excellent"

8.0

We were only there one night and it was very nice and plan on returning for a longer trip. The hotel is so interesting we wish we had time to explore. One thing to note, the hotel's street is a quick turn off of Calle San Justo; we missed it. Also, the hotel does not have on-sight parking and all the street parking is for residences only. The hotel staff was very nice and informed us right away that parking was residential only (with a very expensive ticket!) and told us where the nearest garage was located. Also, we had a very difficult time getting out of the loading/unloading parking spot of the hotel. Luckily, a staff member was trying to pull into the street and offered to get our car out for us! Get the smallest car you can fit into as driving in Old Port is crazy! (I didn't believe that in someone's review; being from the Washington, DC-area, I figured I would be fine with narrow streets, but it was that in combination with very impatient drivers that make it very stressful!)

"Keep Looking "

2.0

My experience with the Gallery Inn was disappointing. Our first room was dank, windowless and had two twin beds, though I'd reserved a queen. We were going to leave without a refund rather than stay there. After much pleading we were moved to another room which wasn't much better. It reeked of mildew. The shower and windows leaked through the walls into the main area and the door to the balcony was rotted off its hinges. A good nights' sleep was impossible. The walls are so thin that the you couldn't escape the sound from the street below and the guests across the hall getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. And parking was not adequately addressed at check-in, so we ended up with parking tickets our first night at $250 a pop. When I told the clerk she said we were lucky we only got two, other guests had received more cause the cops can ticket every twenty minutes. So even though the hotel had notice from previous guests that this was a problem they didn't pass that information along to new guests at check-in. Usually that kind of critical information is part of the guest services package and mentioned at check-in. On day 2, I learned that a nearby parking garage only charges area hotel guests $13 a night with proof of stay. I asked a few clerks if they knew this and the answer was a resounding no. This business is not run like a business and guests suffer for it. If charm is what you're seeking -look elsewhere. You can find it without sacrificing comfort.

"This hotel is unique and amazing!! "

It's and old house filled with art works and sculpture and music. It doesn't have every modern convenience but is comfortable and clean. For those with a sense of adventure, some curiosity and in search of something unique and amazing!! Loved it
