"Nice Hotel in Rich Area of Newcastle"

8.0

This hotel is located in the rich area of Jesmond, off the West Jesmond metro. It offered two double beds, open windows, nearness to Jesmond Dene for walking and zoo, and good restaurants. Only bad was hotel clerk who did not know procedure, difficulty getting in by ringing bell for staff, and some p.m. noise because is by an outdoor bar. Good breakfast--remember you get one hot part as well!

Lovely area, hotel fine. Close enough to Newcastle city centre with the metro stop a short walk away.

Double bed was on the small side, there was an iron burn on the carpet and the blind was broken so let light in in the morning also the door stuck which is dangerous in case of fire

Stayed for a night. The room was a bit battle worn and could do with a makeover but it was clean. The landlord was very pleasant and helpful. Ok for a stopover.

"Not sure the target audience "

2.0

I'm not quite sure who the target audience is for this hotel. The room is stayed in faced over the main street, with a surprising view of a cardboard man waving from the opposite property. It had single glazing so was quite cold and incredibly noisy with traffic and people shouting and screaming (whilst drunk but also in the morning at 8am). Sleep was next to non existent as guests in the room next to mine came in about 2:30am and had a karaoke session for an hour screaming until someone came downstairs banging on their door telling them to respect the other guests. In the morning, 8am, there was no hot water for a shower, resorting to boiling the kettle to pour into the bathroom sink and use a mug as a ladle to wash off the shower gel. I had thought perhaps it was a hotel for people who wish to have a night out in Jesmond so I was quite surprised to see a couple with baby at breakfast. I would not recommend staying here with young children The pros of the hotel were scarce after little sleep and no hot water; the bathroom looked reasonably new and the room was clean enough to meet my expectations. The chap who checked me in was very friendly, which was a good welcome after a 5 hour long journey.

"A CANNY GAFF."

10.0

We went to Newcastle to see old friends and also take in the wonderful SUNDAY FOR SAMMY show, and the Kenilworth provided an ideal setting in view of its proximity to both the town centre (a leisurely 25 minute stroll) and the magnificent Jesmond Dene “Park”. It was a 5-6 hour train ride for us and, unfortunately,we didn’t allow ourselves enough time to really have a good look at Newcastle, which, from past memories,is a marvellous city, full of wonderful people. The Staff at the Kenilworth could not have been more helpful or accommodating — nothing was too much trouble — and they made our short stay an extremely pleasant one. Will definitely stop there again next time we’re up that way.
