Great hotel. Came on a breakfast basis only and found the selection of the hot and cold food to be very good, Found the drinks and cocktail prices to be very reasonable. Room were spotless and cleaned every day. If one wanted to eat out, there were plenty of restaurants around the hotel. There was also a convenient bus stop outside the hotel for those who wanted to visit the main town of Funchal. If I was to visit Madeira again, I would definitely consider using this hotel again.

Don’t be put off by the brutalist design of the building, quiet & relaxing, everything you could need nearby. Courteous staff, breakfast can be busy & plenty to choose from. Themed evening meals, nothing off putting. Really trying to think of a criticism, but I can’t

Be prepared to have an enjoyable holiday with amazing staff, Juan, Elsa, Paulo, Neilio, Dora, Fabiana and all of the staff are a credit to the hotel. Our second visit and already looking forward to returning again.

We had a fabulous 11 night stay at this hotel and honestly couldn't fault it! The location was perfect as it was around a 20 mins walk into Funchal and only a short walk down to the lido and promenade. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and answered any questions we had during our stay. We found the room to be clean and modern which really suited our tastes. Breakfast was fantastic and there was always something tasty to eat, the staff were always cleaning tables and replenishing food which had run out which was great. Breakfast starts at 7.30am which I believe is typical for most Portuguese hotels however I do wish it started at 7am. Most days we were out early to enjoy Madeira's hiking trails before they were too crowded and that meant we missed breakfast some days. I feel like a lot of guests would benefit from an earlier breakfast option, this would be my only feedback. The rooftop bar is gorgeous and the drinks are delicious! Special shout out to the guy who was working there who kinda looked like Jason Momoa. He made the best Nikita's, Poncha and Cuba Libras we had on the whole island! He had a cracking sense of humour as well! 👏 We will definitely return to this hotel in the future! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The cleanliness was astonishing. The floors were always kept impeccable. The shower, the room, and the towels and bedding were kept clean without too much damage to the environment. The only thing we missed was a rack to dry towels and bathing suits.

We are very positively surprised by the Allegro hotel. Despite the 4 stars, cleanliness, hotel service and food were at a very high level. The bar on the 11th floor (rufftop) is a very atmospheric place where you can enjoy a coffee or a drink, admiring the beautiful view of Funchal. The hotel rooms may not be too large and do not have a classic sash (in my opinion to protect things from moisture) are thoroughly cleaned every day. The food in the hotel restaurant is tasty, always fresh. Breakfasts are rather classic, everyone will find something for themselves. On the other hand, thematic dinners. You can't see so blatant processing of uneaten products from the previous day. Fish or steak is fried only after indicating a specific portion. The pool is not too large but there is no problem with free sunbeds. Besides, we did not use it during our stay. To the center of Funchal 20-25 minutes. To sum up, a hotel for a tourist who comes to discover the beauty of Madeira. Fans of spending all day at the hotel will certainly not be thrilled. A big plus for adults only.

The outside of the hotel is not very appealing. However, check in was smooth and the communal areas in the hotel were clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, we personally were disappointed with the room, bathroom and balcony. For us the room was too small, dark and rather dismal. The hanging space was open and not long enough for dresses etc. There was only one chair inside the room, which was for two people, so one of us had to sit on the bed. The balcony was small and although it had a sea view, it was also overlooking the car park. This made it very noisy, if you wanted to sit outside, or just have the balcony door open. We could have asked to change rooms, but as those on the other side of the hotel overlooked two active building sites we didn’t see that as an alternative. The bathroom had very limited space for toiletries etc. On the plus side, there was a fridge, tea making facilities, safe, toiletries, bath robes etc. The rooms were very clean and the cleaning ladies did a really good job. We just felt, that overall the room was not what we have come to expect from a four star hotel and that is the reason for the score. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. The staff that we met were all friendly and helpful. They did their best to try to make sure guests had a good time. There was music on the rooftop bar some nights, although when we were there the actual bar was only open five out of seven days. They laid on a couple of pool parties, which were very enjoyable and it was a shame the dj was fighting against the noise of the building sites. I appreciate that noise from the building sites, road, and other guests is not the fault of the hotel, but I regret this hotel was just not for us.

Recently back from a 2 week stay at this hotel. We had a lovely time, couldn't fault anything. All the staff were great and helpful. We stayed in a junior suite which had a side view of the sea, which was lovely as we hadn't asked for this. Advise staying on the west side if you can, you get some afternoon sun on the balcony. The room was good, plenty of space, beds had a thick mattress topper on which made them comfortable, decent shower in the bathroom. We were on the second floor and had no problem with water pressure, as others have mentioned. If you close the balcony doors at nighttime there is no sound from outside, good air conditioning in our room. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis, which was fine. A good selection of cooked food, much the same each day but not a problem. Also there were cereals, fruit, bakery selection, continental selection, yoghurt and fresh fruit. The pool area was clean and lots of sunbeds were available, never too busy. The rooftop bar was open 5 nights a week with various entertainers each night, views were great. Had a great time and would definitely recommend for a couples holiday.
