Good food in bar, but also 15 mins walk into next village and at Fantails.
Excellent hotel in small village, room was very warm, but ceiling fan and also fan provided if required. Both had an excellent sleep, breakfast was tremendous with very wide variety of choice. Will return here.
We had an issue when checking in. We were told we did not have breakfast included but this was in writing on our reservation. They did eventually supply breakfast.
We stayed here as a stopover on our way to Scotland. It was 5 mins off M6 yet a lovely quiet place to stay. Restaurant food good. Breakfast lovely and great choice. Room was clean, warm and had everything needed.
Weekend stay. A few problems with room,but all resolved by the reception staff. 2 single beds pushed together instead of a double.shower instead of bath as requested Clean and comfortable. Staff great. Swimming pool area wonderful. Overall a great hotel with hard working staff.

Lovely hotel and staff, food was good. Let down by extremely poor housekeeping and the noise within the bedroom at night. Some kind of air handling unit ductwork runs near to the room, so loud it literally makes the mirror on the wall vibrate at night and had to wedge it off the wall with tissues to keep it quiet so we could try to sleep. As for the housekeeping they need to get new staff, the corridor leading to the room has cobwebs everywhere and these have been there a while judging by the thickness and state of them. The bedroom was like a nursery for spiders and I literally lost count of the ones I had to remove so my partner would eventually settle, again cobwebs all over the ceilings and beams within the room.
Lovely, clean, comfortable well decorated room, TV even had Netflix, huge walk in shower in a large on suite bathroom. Amazingly comfortable bed. Excellent meals in the bar, good choice menu and generous portions. Fairly well stocked bar. Very enjoyable breakfast in the conservatory. All staff were courteous, friendly and professional and well above average. The rail station is nearby the hotel and there is a local bus service. Lovely little village only around 6 miles from Carlisle city centre.
