"Good"

7.0

The room was modernized and spacious - both the room itself as well as the bathroom. The staff were also incredibly helpful; we had little-to-no French and they supported with recommendations and bookings in the area. It was an easy drive to the surrounding chateaus and a great "basecamp" for our adventures.

The furnishings in the shared spaces showed wear (such as tears in the arms of the couches) and the mattresses could use replacing. Small thing: I'd also suggest that the Chateau provide guests with wine bottle openers and wine glasses alongside the coffee cups / tea mugs already provided in rooms.

"Good, but overpriced and BEWARE THE NOISE"

5.0

The interiors and exterior of the chateau were simply splendid—a delightful garden, a magnificent library, an excellently appointed dining room, and a charming bedroom. The breakfast, while adequate, did not quite live up to its cost. However, the unlimited supply of tea and coffee was a welcome touch. The pool area was well-equipped with ample sunbeds. There was convenient private parking available. We particularly enjoyed the opportunity to partake in a tasting on the delightful terrace. The charcuterie board was appealing, and the accompanying wine was very reasonable for its price. Several staff members were very friendly and attentive.

The primary dissatisfaction stems from the excessive cost. At €75 per night, this hotel would be marvellous; at €150, it would be acceptable; but at €290 per night, it's utterly indefensible. For such a steep price, one would at least expect basic amenities like a bin in the dining room (none were provided, and we were instructed to leave rubbish on the table), blackout curtains in the bedrooms, and a functioning lock on the main door (ours was broken and required fiddling to secure). Additionally, I anticipated more proactive service from the staff, rather than having to approach the reception for every minor detail—how to close the [broken] lock, where and when the pool was available, and so on. Furthermore, our room door was not properly before we arrived, inviting an unwelcome array of spiders and biting insects. It was also not made clear that we could request scrambled eggs at breakfast—a discovery only made by observing other guests. Noise was another significant issue. Despite selecting a garden-facing room to avoid road noise, we were greeted by an incessant mechanical drone akin to a washing machine at full spin. The staff seemed surprisingly oblivious to this noise, which was clearly audible. Using a spectrum analyzer confirmed it was not my imagination, showing noise levels peaking at 100Hz/58db—a persistent annoyance that didn't cease at night. Attempts to mitigate it with earplugs were futile; the noise permeated everything, leading to a dreadful first night's sleep of barely four hours. The overall experience was severely marred by these issues.

"Great hotel, really welcoming."

9.0

The service at the hotel was brilliant. We were welcomed as we drove into the car park, given a tour of the hotel and a wine tasting. We didn’t really want to eat our, and so we got cheese and charcuterie from the nearby supermarket, with the hotel setting the table for us. The breakfast was good too.

"Bed and Breakfast Feels"

9.0

Our stay felt like we became family with those who were there! We had a relaxed/casual wine tasting in the library, a delicious cheese and charcuterie board to end! The stay was comfortable and the staff even bought our little girl an Easter egg to celebrate the day!

"Good location, not excellent"

6.0

This four star hotel we feel is more an overpriced B&B. Although the staff is very friendly, they are re- rather than pro-active. For example, the 20€ breakfast includes very little, unless you specifically ask for what you want, then you get it. We were not asked if we wanted something not present. The feeling we get is that orders from the Thai owners are to limit cost, rather than to enhance visitor satisfaction. Positive is that location is great, very close to many prominent Bordeaux vineyards.
