Hotel Hanselewirt

Recently stayed 2 nights with my fiance when visiting the castle. Hotel is 1.5 miles away and a perfect location to stay in. Hotel had a very cozy feeling like staying in a 3 story house. Staff was great, rooms were clean and comfortable, and the restaurant food was excellent. Hotel even has a terrace you can eat or drink on that looks directly at the castle. Would def. stay here again.

Nice and quiet location! Rooms are small but pleasant. We eate all of our meals at restaurant, very delicious.

If you're visiting the castles in Schwangau, this is a good location and a decent deal. The rooms are small. The showers are tiny.

This hotel was a pleasent surprise. Only minutes from the main sites, great food, popular for locals. Wake up in the morning and go to the 2nd floor balcony for tea and you see the castle shinning in the Sun.

Room is small but neat. I was lucky that I saw the castle from the window, and the 2nd day I walked about 25 minutes to visit it. Quiet small town, beautiful sceneries, and good service. Very nice stay, would like to come back.

The hotel is simply awesome, big room with comfortable bed and a coffee maker. Restaurant downstairs has delicious food, nothing bad to say about the hotel. But it it not 1.5miles from the castle as it said in its nearby areas, more like 10 miles. Either way whenever I go back there I will be staying in this hotel, it's simply awesome.

It was a nice room on the top floor. Unfortunately, the ceiling height was 6'6" and my husband is 6'2". The bed was acceptable. The towels were average size. No washcloths. The shower tray raised the height of the shower 4 inches and it was not a big shower, so tall people should book the lower floor when booking. It gives an extra 6". The coffee setup in the room was nice. The food was good, but a word of warning to grown-ups without children. If you do not wish to spend your meal trying to talk over screaming children running around, stay close to the bar and away from the buffet room. They have a play room in there and if you get stuck there, let's just say it turns a good meal bad in a hurry. The location was perfect for us. Just a short walk to the grocery and 30 minute walk to town to buy tickets for the castle. It is truly a paradise for runners, walkers, and bicyclists.

Nice hotel in quiet area away from the tourists

No one should expect big town luxury from a small town like Schwangau, but that's not Gasthof Hanselewirt sets out to do. The staff here is friendly and courteous. The rooms are not big but provide all the comfort needed. The restaurant is one of the few in the area that stands out with its decent food and beer available on tap. In all, good value for money.

Excellent, except for the WiFi service which was waaaay over-complicated and resulted in practically NO service at all.
