Hotel Hanselewirt

What a great place to get away from it all! Good food, comfortable setting, walkable town. Hotel staff were great. Breakfasts were good as well. Overall, a great place to stay.

It was like sleeping in a barn. No air conditioning, so open windows were a must, but the trade off was the strong smell of manure from next door and flies came in. We removed 4 flies before even opening the window. There's nothing to do in Schwangau and only a couple marginal restaurants. I suggest finding something in Fussen only 4km away.

We walked in to find Ruth, the most helpful and wonderful person who helped make our whole stay so much easier and more fun. The hotel was so comfortable and clean. Breakfast was yummy. Great stay, we loved it! Even a view of the castle!

We had a great two-day stay at Gasthaus Hanselewirt. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant one night and went out the other into Fussen. Conveniently located for the castles, and for enjoyable walks.

Beautiful little Gasthof and restaurant in a pretty and quiet back street of Schwangau. Comfortable room with all that you need. Good breakfast provided and with the added benefit of a view to Neuschwanstein Castle. Old village surrounds you with a barn full of dairy cattle next door.

Short drive from Neuschwanstein castle (or 35 minute walk). Cattle kept next door could be smelled in room constantly. Hotel staff hard to find.

Great hotel, friendly staff, very close to the castle (and free bus pass to get there!), lovely room, great breakfast.

Lovely, clean, comfy hotel in a quaint town. The room was nice and big, especially for a european hotel. The bed was super comfy! I was having a grumpy day and the owner was so patient and calm and solved the issue I was having. There was also a fun brewery 5 min away!
