Our experience of staying in this villa was perfect! The location is really great, you won’t find it in the other place of Madeira, it’s the best choice if you are looking for a private peaceful stay

"Fabulous beachside chalets on a splendidly isolated banana plantation"

9.0

We had a delightful stay in Casa Julia, one of just 8 holiday homes on a fruit plantation with lots of flowers. Access is only by a (free) cable car from the parking 300m up on the cliffs, running on demand until 19h, after that by appointment with the friendly operators. Despite the isolation, you can be back at the car and go to the supermarket in Ribeira Brava in just 15 minutes, Funchal only slightly longer. The holiday home for 2 is spacious, with a functional kitchen and a great private terrace. The homes are in a separate area from the restaurant and swimming pier where daytrippers are allowed, but after it closes around 18h you have the whole place to yourself - and it's beautiful. Seaview breakfast under the palm trees at the restaurant is good, all staff we dealt with are lovely - do book a plantation tour with Fatima to learn about the special history of the place and the fruit grown here. You can order a fruit basket with their produce to be delivered to your home, highly recommended for specialities like Surinam Cherries. If the sea's a little rough, swimming off the pier or stone beach is not recommended. There's a communal barbecue area, wood can be provided.

The kitchen could be better equipped.

Breakfast was wonderful, loved the location. Was so happy to be there . Would return in a heartbeat! The cabin was perfect, views were lovely and I had the best sleep in a long time.

Nothing, it was perfect for me.

"Little paradise"

10.0

Fajã dos Padres is an amazing place. It starts with a cable car ride (operating till 7 pm, plus between 9-10 pm for guest), goes over organic fruits and vegetable baskets (3kg for 12 €), a restaurant with a great ocean view (last food order at 5 pm) and serval small houses, all with a different interior nestled in the fantastic garden overlooking the sea. When the weather is good you can take a swim e.g. when the sun sets. We loved it!

"Beautiful but avoid breakfast"

7.0

The location and the views are stunning! If you decide to stay do not plan any trips/hikes for early morning.

First of all, I’d say that it is pretty unique experience and the place itself is really nice. But there are couple of things you need to mention when booking: 1. The breakfast - a huge disappointment for us - the stuff absolutely doesn’t care!!! First day we saw empty jars of juice, empty plates with cold cuts and the only option was boiled eggs, even though we asked if we could have scrambled or fried - the answer was no. Coffee is awful, so if you want normal - you will need to order it from the restaurant at additional costs. 2. Restaurant hours are 9-5pm which is absolutely inconvenient. 3. The issue we had and told about it is that chairs in the kitchen left awful stains of corrosion on our clothes - they only said they never had it before, so they hope we will be able to fix it! 4. The second day we came back to the house around 10 pm and found we had absolutely no toilet paper in the room. Reception was closed and you can’t just go to the shop as the only way is a cable car. Overall I would say the place is nice itself but it leaks care and it feels like they think that beautiful location fixes all.

"Perfect chill-out location for several days"

9.0

- Wonderful location, very relaxing. Make sure you spend at least a whole day here without going anywhere and just chilling. - Great beach area and cozy rooms. - Outstanding views and especially sunsets from the private terrace. - Staff is very friendly and always ready to help.

Nothing that hasn’t been mentioned already, but still: - insects (spiders, ants, mosquitoes, some enormous bugs) are literally everywhere, also inside of the house (could be solved by better mosquito nets and repellents). - working hours of the restaurant. It would be nice to have the possibility to have freshly cooked dinner after 5pm. - breakfast could be better. It is also a bit irritating you can not choose a table you like for breakfast.
