The Payogan Villa Resort & Spa

First night: No hot water, toilet not flushing, bloodstains on bedsheets, stained towel. They replaced the sheets and towel immediately, couldn't fix hot water & flushing problem. 2nd day: Flushing problem fixed, hot water not.Offered us a different room, but we declined as the view wasn't as good. They offered us a free dinner and spa treatment for 2 people as compensation, which we accepted.

Absolutely beautiful property (once you find it). Immediate surrounding neighbourhood not nice. But as Ubud is bigger than one would think need taxis anyway so no big deal. Private villas with own pool.

We stayed at the Payogan for the last 3 nights of our bali trip and we were absolutely blown away by it. It was incredible! The villa was amazing, the restaurant food was also very nice, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. After staying here we would highly recommend it and we will definitely be back again! It was my favourite part of the trip! If you are looking for somewhere romatic, relaxing & quiet this place is perfect!

Our 1 night stay in this beautiful Resort was far too short. Gardens were beautiful and accommodation clean and comfortable. Staff were courteous,friendly but at times slow to answer the phone. Did expect more variety at breakfast but how much can you eat! Very beautiful and peaceful.

This is a trip to the Indiana Jones' era. The feel is ancient, pura-like with concrete and buildings and layout made to look most Bali and rustic-like. We booked a 2 bedroom unit private villa. Good for 2 families. Nice bathroom downstairs but upstairs bathroom needed to be modified so that the shower could reach the holder. We did not expect these imperfections from a 5 star resort. The result was that for our first night, we had to hold on to the shower hose to have a bath. Ended up we all went to the downstairs unit for a nicer experience. It took a referral to the front desk manager Ms Putu to sort it out properly. She was excellent in her service and demeanour! Other staff seems more interested in placating and politely asking if the stay was ok rather than actually attending to the problems. So if there are any issues, do check with the front desk directly rather than other junior staff/porter/driver etc. Internet is slow and not reliable in the rooms but acceptable in the main dining and lobby. All in all for the price that we paid, this was a good stay with friendly and accommodating staff. The resort needed a good revamp though to relive its glory days. Finally the pot holes on the side road leading to the resort should be attended to. It may be on public grounds but the impression to Payogan is clearly marred by the lack of maintenance there.

This is an amazing place. The rooms are huge. The bathrooms have a very large tub and separate shower. The private pool for use just for your own room was fantastic and clean. Grounds were well kept and beautiful. Employees were well trained and very polite. It was a great stay. Breakfast buffet was huge and tasted great. Needs internet in the rooms!

I booked this hotel for a surprise for my boyfriend as a early birthday to end our 3 month travelling! The staff were absolutely amazing, nothing was ever a bother to ask. They went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time! We booked a private pool villa with valley views! The view was breathtaking and the privacy of the whole place is perfect! The resort is huge so the buggy is always there at the lobby to take you to your room or you can ring it from your room to pick you up. After all the mixed reviews I can't stress enough that the room we stayed in was brand new. So if you are given one of the older rooms you could always ask to be switched.

Could not fault this hotel/villas at all. Rooms were awesome. Food was really nice and the buffet breakfast was delicious. The staff were willing to bend over backwards to accommodate us. There is a free shuttle bus into Ubud centre every couple of hours drop off and pick up. The hotel/villas is about 15 minutes out of the hustle and bustle and provides for a nice quiet stay. Ubud is pretty close to all the attractions like white water rafting, rice terraces, coffee plantations and the volcano look out. The hotel put us on to a local driver who acted as out tour guide and we got it for a reasonable price (bartering is essential). This resort/villa is not for people looking for a place to get wasted every night and run a muck, its all about relaxing. Although that said you can go into Ubud centre for about 60000Rp ($6) and there are a few places to drink in there. Overall loved it.

This beautiful rambling hotel is wonderful. It covers several acres of grounds in a wonderful fashion. the staff are extremely helpful and our villa was amazing! private, well appointed and with a generous bathroom, we had our own little oasis within the complex. The staff helped us with all our needs. The scooter hire was extremely easy, the shuttle system worked well and the buggies around the complex meant we didn't have to lug our luggage up and down steep hills.

good and kindly staff, clean room and swiming-pool in villa. but I feel poor breakfast. very comfortable place i have been stay. if i go to bali, i want to visit again.
