Ascot House was, for us, the perfect place to stay for our trip to York Barbican. The accommodation was first class and breakfast delicious (freshly cooked to order). Very good value for money.

"Fantastic break away."

From first communication to arriving, we were keep informed of the arrangements. Received a warm greeting by June and everything was as described. House is beautiful and our room was too, spotlessly clean and everything we needed during our stay. Breakfast was fantastic, especially catering for gluten and dairy free dietary needs. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff who were friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our 3 night stay and hope to go back again soon.

Traditional B & B in a beautiful villa building which felt so luxurious. Architectural details that were so lovely. Parking on site AND walking distance to the city centre, city walls and minster! Friendly and helpful staff at breakfast who took the trouble to remember our preferences and satisfy individual requirements. Pristine, light and airy family room with plenty of space and everything we needed.

Nothing really. Searching for a comment, I was concerned that 'dog friendly' might mean a lot of dogs for my nervous daughter to deal with (especially in the dining room) but we only briefly encountered the resident dog who basically left us alone! Due to the fabulous shape of the roof/window in our room, the curtains didn't screen much light! So that might be improved (but for me a sleep mask solved the problem).

Staff were super friendly. Room was well appointed, comfortable bed, modern shower room. Breakfast choice was excellent. Short but very easy 15 minute walk to York Minster.
