Claremont House

We booked this as a B&B. it was advertised as a B&B with prices to include breakfast and still is. 2 days before our arrival I received an e-mail to say that due to covid no breakfast would be served. This should be clearly stated on the booking, not after we'd paid. Covid restrictions are largely over and they've had 18 months to update advertising etc. I'd already received e-mails from both e-bookers and the guest house themselves to confirm the stay, but none of them bothered to say that no breakfast would be included. We also completed an online questionnaire where we stated we didn't know what time we would be checking in. Apparently that wasn't good enough as even though we'd already paid, we received a call just before we set off to ask what time we'd be arriving. We were already made well aware that latest check-in was 8pm. This call was around lunch time and completely unwelcome and unnecessary. When we checked in we found only some of the overhead lights in the room worked, there were no spoons so difficult to make a tea or coffee, some of the electric sockets didn't work and the one that did was dangerously overloaded with an extension lead connected to a multi-socket connected to it. it's pretty tired and run-down and needless to say we will not stay there again.

Very clean and simple

We were given a first floor room, but we’re relocated to sister B&B when owner realised I am disabled and couldn’t manage stairs. Very considerate. Sadly no breakfast available due to staff quarantining. A bit annoying as we had early ferry to IOW and didn’t have time to find somewhere else.

I'm always happy to come back and stay on this b&b accommodation very friendly and professional staff.

Good location. Neomie was Friendly and helpful. Separate toilet, water and soap dispenser didn’t work, used the one in our v basic room. Shower head was hanging - didn’t use

Great. Stay Nang is so friendly and helpful.

The pace is absolutely horrible, dirty, strong smell of food all the time , a lot of noise from the road and people parking right front of the windows of the room. Banging door of the room every time someone open the main door. Other occupants were loud till late night and then very early in the morning. Bedsheets had yellow stains, carpet heavily stained the way we were thinking twice to take our shoes off. Shower head was so blocked by scale that made it almost impossible to actually shower. The staff was not overly friendly and after we have experienced the accommodation, we have happily skipped the continental breakfast. As soon as we have been let in after waiting outside ringing the bell without answer, we have noticed the ripped carpet in the hallway. Not the best first impression. Even the front exterior is not very welcoming with rundown broken signs. Overall one star hostel would be better choice. Well overpriced for what it is.

Everything was ok. Apart from the boiler in the cupboard.
