"loads of character with friendly staff"

8.0

As has been mentioned - the building has loads of character (which we loved) we were only their for 1 night but were very comfortable as a family of 4 in their family room (old room but v modern bathroom) the beer garden and grounds were perfect for relaxing in would happily go back

"Good hotel "

6.0

We enjoyed our stay here. The room wasn’t as clean as we’d have liked, especially the hair in the bathroom. The room was very hot but the fan provided helped. We were kept awake during the night by some rowdy guests singing and being very loud. Although this wasn’t the hotels fault, it did dampen the stay.

"Enjoyed experience of staying in an ancient manor."

8.0

The outstanding features are the age and history of the house and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Take time to wander around and see the ancient church and farm next to the property.

"Unique and characterful Manor House"

10.0

We wanted a property with Character in a countryside location and Churston Manor ticked all the boxes. Spend 6 memorable days at the manor. Its location is very convenient for access to all the many tourist venues. Our room had a 4 poster bed and the creeky uneven, sometimes sloping floors just added to the overall character, typical of a 13/14th century property.. Good Food, beautiful restaurant and bar On Reflection: Great ! Will visit again.

"Olde world hotel full of character"

A lovely old hotel dating back to 13th century. Didn’t see any ghosts! Evening meal beautifully cooked to our liking and breakfast was plentiful.

"Character hotel"

8.0

The hotel is a listed building which brings with it all the charm you would expect. The staff were great food good. If you are looking for a stay in a bland white walled Ikea furnished hotel then this is not for you but if you want character give this hotel a go

"Historic building"

8.0

Character building steeped in history. This is the 4th time we have been here and sadly it is becoming tired. Staff worked really hard but had too many rolls to play. There should have been twice the number of staff for a hotel of this size and character. The room was clean and comfortable, but when we went to the dining room there was one staff to deal with orders and he also had to serve at the bar next door. It took so long to return to take orders for desert, that we just went into the bar for drinks. We only found out our restaurant bill when we settled our final bill as we left. We, a party of 6, did enjoy our stay but thought that it could have been much better had the hotel been better organised. For the hotel, we probably would have eaten all our evening meals there for convenience of no driving had the restaurant been better organised.

Hotel and staff were good apart from having bells from the local church ringing for most of the evening!
